I’m in the middle of reading Nona the Ninth and wouldn’t Nona be such an amazing role to act in? I fancast a lot of books i read and i have no idea who i’d have play her! A young Tatiana Maslany, perhaps?

Unrelated but shoutout to my homegirl Moira Quirk who did the Locked Tomb audiobooks and managed to mispronounce the main character's name in spite of the author writing fairly comprehensive pronunciation guides for each of the books
I have now read through #HarrowTheNinth twice, #NonaTheNinth twice, and I'm starting Harrow again.
The first line of mysterious writing only Harrow can see, in HtN, finally makes sense. At least halfway.
I swear, this series is structured so there's action, and then the information you need to understand the action is in the NEXT book. Good thing Tamsyn Muir is such an engaging writer.

#food We have reached the beef & mutton bit of #TheLockedTomb #NonaTheNinth and (slightly to troll Belovedest) I suggested beef and/or mutton in the grocery store. Then I looked at the deals and it turns out there was some very nice looking beef. The at-home-right-now portions of the household are now having lovely green salads with some very nice steak. (Belovedest, being Hongry, chowed down on their salad first immediately on getting home and is having steak for dessert.)

I am so impressed by Moira Quirk's narration of the Locked Tomb audiobooks. There's close to 40 different characters, and she somehow gives each of them a distinct, recognizable voice. Such a joy to listen to.
Your head spins as you finish the last chapter of #HarrowTheNinth and return it to the bookshelf. You wonder briefly if you should take a break and read something outside #TheLockedTomb next, but you look down and #NonaTheNinth is already in your hands.

Tamsyn Muir may go pages out of her way to make a none pizza with left beef joke, but goddamn, she really stabs you right in the heart when she means to.

Finished #NonaTheNinth last night and have now joined the throngs eagerly awaiting the last book!
I heard Nona was polarizing-ish but I enjoyed it. OTOH I’ve often been just fine with authors that play around with tone/structure, so “where did most of the gothy shit go???” didn't bother me.
(God damn I wish it was easier to search your own fucking posts on here; not that this was actually any easier on birdsite for the most part…it was just better-Google-indexed…)
Soooo I finished #HarrowTheNinth last night. Whee! What a trip. As before, immediately bought #NonaTheNinth and diving into that tonight most likely.
tl;dr the worldbuilding for this series suffers the better a look you get at it, but the vibes/characterizations/dialogue/omgwhathappensnext more than make up for it.
Taking a break from #Murderbot and hopping back into #TheLockedTomb. I #AmReading Nona The Ninth.
