If you're thinking of starting a website, it would be best for you to pick a country level domain extension, as opposed to a word-based domain extension.
Corporations can be bought, sold, influenced, regulated, and shutdown, overnight. If avoiding Donald Trump's possible madness is your goal, you don't want to be back into a corner with Corporate America.

I don’t consider thousands of posts doing NOTHING but soliciting new followers, and spending all my social media time vetting and following unsolicited accounts, a “fix.” It simply replicated all that was a horrific waste of time on Twitter, chasing accounts around the mulberry bush to juice the algorithm.
I’d rather have a few hundred intelligent, entertaining, artsy contacts than the thousands of anonymous nobodies I “knew” on Twitter and Bluesky.

Many people, unfortunately, do not read legal documentation. It has become human nature to simply click "OK, I agree".
If more folks did read their terms of services, you would know word-based domain name extensions are not managed the same way as normal with the protection of ICANN.
As it stands now, if Donald Trump really lost his mind, he could shut down much of the Fediverse.

I wish we had something like "communities" here on mastodon.
We do have this in the #fedi, no need specifically for #mastodon to have it @futurebird.
To begin with, have a look at this profile and you'll see that we have role play profiles.
Also #friendica does offer #communityPages for the fedi, you can join them and you can post onto their walls so the post's get redistributed to all the followers of that page.
If you have an idea or need for a specific community #rolePlay page, just send a request to this profile or @admin, this server is specifically dedicated to community pages/profiles.
If you want an entire role play server, we can talk about that too.
Actually the "Stammtisch" is around since 2019.12 and right now in refurbishing mode.
Just like two days ago we discussed this in spanisch with @mina, and got stuck, or are still awaiting the decision, for the name of the page, considering that it should be language specific. The names considered were teleteatro -> @fediTeatro, telenovella -> @fediNovella, @fediBochinche.
We actually do have even audioserver (podcast) too, so we could create much more once the texts are established. And of course mastodon profiles can post audio snippets up to a certain size.
Always remember, the #fediVerse is a #doOcracy not a #cheerOcracy, a #claimOcracy or a #envyOcracy.

It is utterly wrong to expect one platform, in this case mastodon, to do everything and offer everything. That's the centralized wallet garden setup and thinking we were taught. The strength of the fediverse and the #activityPub idea is decentralization, not only in instances but also in platforms and what each and every on brings to the table so we can feast together ..

The one service lacking behind is mastodon - I have not yet been able to easily
figure out a way to easily put images via Markdown or otherwise into the
frontpage - but eventually, I will find a way. If you know how - feel free to

CSS. Not good at HTML either. Really - not good at other programming languages,

need some #fedi tach help...
i've been scratching my head over this weird pty permission issue for weeks now... On postmarketOS with systemd, my distrobox containers never have permission to allocate pty's and i can't figure out why!
distrobox enter is broken because it invokes podman with the --user argument. Entering the container as root works, but then running sudo or anything else that would allocate a pty fails with -ENOPERM
and I can't find ANY issues anywhere that seem to be a similar problem
I have almost no doubt this is a misconfiguration in something systemd related, but so far all my digging has turned up nothing useful.
The permissions in /dev/pts on my host seem more or less correct, and so far no fiddling with them has changed anything (including messing with ptmxmode in the devpts mount options).
distrobox enter always hits me with
Error: crun: chown `/dev/pts/0`: Operation not permitted: OCI permission denied
