New videos from the Embedded Algorithms Workshop added to the YouTube playlist. The event took place last summer at UdK Berlin. We brought together a community of artists, researchers, and practitioners and had a great time discussing the practice of embedding algorithms in the arts. #musicresearch

New year, new country, new #introduction. Having obtained my #PhD in #computationalmusicology in last year, I am now pursuing an academic career in #musicresearch in Linz
. Most music genres and styles have fantastic specimens but I seem to have a general preference for the extremes, be it #deathmetal, #hardtechno, or completely bonkers #ContemporaryMusic. Politically I'm a violent, radical extremist for #solidarity, #cooperation, and #HumanRights. Favourite vegetable: #hokkaido squash

Just spent an afternoon in a spreadsheet trying to figure out why the output my student had was wrong and had a lot of fun finding the calculation error (not hers it turned out) and providing a tutorial to explain and give her a starting point to complete the job… I had forgotten how much I loved fiddling around with performance timing data. #MusicResearch #tempo

@Justin_Lind For the remaining keys/chords I just made sure to use the largest variety of base colours and that colours for adjacent tonics (on the line of fifths) are not too similar.
Would be interested in hearing a visualisation expert's views and suggestions for improvement...
They put up a link to the white paper about the results of their Phase I research here: https://klezmerinstitute.org/2023/08/14/klezmer-archive-project-phase-i-white-paper/

Very cool, the Klezmer Institute got another grant from the US National Endowment for the Humanities to allow them to continue working into the next phase of their Klezmer Archive project.
https://klezmerinstitute.org/2023/08/15/ki-awarded-neh-dhag-phase-ii-grant/
I saw demos of this proposed archive last year, it will be quite like anything else. Essentially a kind of repository of user-contributed knowledge and documents about musical pieces, with branching connections between people and music.

The #klezmer scene has never been extremely focused on scores, preferring to learn by ear, so these copyright scores haven't attracted a lot of interest. In theory they were all intended to be filed away in advance of a recording session, but some sessions were canceled or never happened, so unheard compositions are still sitting in the LOC. A few of them are digitized but many aren't, and so I have been working with someone local to DC to try and locate and scan more. #FolkMusic #MusicResearch
