on a lighter subject, random idea:

a #maxmsp patch which loads a sound file into a sample. Using a pfft, the sound file becomes a number of line~ objects (one for each bucket) where the y value corresponds to amplitude at time

For each midi note, and for each frame for the duration of the note, the incoming audio signal is modulated by some operator (multiplication, division, maximum, minimum, addition, subtraction), for each bucket. so it'd be like multiband amplitude modulation, right?

Here's a video using audio analysis (via SP-Tools) to control a ciat-lonbarde Clicker:
youtube.com/watch?v=q_ECFimvxN

Darker/less-noisy sounds are triggering the lower “kick”-sounding voice, and brighter/noiser sounds are triggering the brighter “snare”-sounding voice.

Then my loudness and brightness (via spectral centroid) are controlling the CV inputs on the Clicker, changing the “pitch” and overall duration of the impulses heard.

so not for now - but at some point I want to be able to build dynamic interactive 3D stuff - #blender is ace and my tool of choice for the moment but it's not interactive or dynamic :-)

looks like the two choices for _me_ are Jitter (in #maxmsp) or #touchdesigner (because I know Max and I know Python) - assuming Blender doesn't develop a real time element again :-)

something for later in the year (if we all get there…)

Hello, I'm Orion, this is my Fediverse #introduction

I'm a musician from Nova Scotia, principally playing electric bass. Currently in my last year of study for undergrad music.

I am interested in contemporary #composition, #musicproduction, and performance, mainly in the realm of improvised music, new complexity, and jazz. #AbletonLive is my DAW of choice, dabbling in #MaxMSP and other software.

Other hobbies are #photography #ttrpg #linux #fountainpens #mma
