Notes from CWG Ops Team on-call: in general it's been a pretty quiet week :)

One thing that comes up often for us is how clunky our registration and on-boarding process is. Joining mastodon on its own is intimidating, but we also add an additional layer of loomio on top of that. I totally understand how intimidating it can be to try to figure out how/when to start a thread or when to make a proposal.

@emi I think there was some talk a while back about federating Loomio threads on Mastodon, but I guess it was forgotten. We should do it though!

@jotaemei

Oh right! I think @ntnsndr was experimenting with bots for this?

@emi I do not recall @ntnsndr talking about this. I think at the time, they were focused on updating the wiki system. I feel like I may have suggested the Loomio Mastodon bridge in a Matrix chat. If Nathan talked about it, then that’s better.

@jotaemei @emi i have been playing with a Mastodon bot that pulls from Loomio. See the govbot code over at git.coop. But I don't really have time or chops to pull it off.

See example interactions here: social.medlab.host/@govbot/wit

Also am talking with @django about implementing PolicyKit.org in Mastodon, which could enable governance decisions and discussions to occur fully within Mastodon.
