Looking for something "fun" to do this weekend? I might recommend learning about Devicetree on #Zephyr! In the latest Zephyr video, I cover the basics of Devicetree syntax and writing overlay files.

Part 3 of my Intro to #Zephyr series is out
I show how to use Kconfig to enable software components and how to create your own Kconfig symbols. Check out the full video!

“Raspberry Pi RP2350 #microcontroller now available to mere mortals: ‘There are also #RP2350-based devices out there, such as the Thumby Color, a wearable keychain controller with a 128x128 16-bit color screen.
Upton wrote: "One of the coolest things about working at #RaspberryPi is seeing the brilliant products and projects that businesses and hobbyists create using our technology.’”

I just backed this project on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/openmv/openmv-n6-and-ae3-low-power-python-programmable-ai-cameras
OpenMV LLC makes some incredibly powerful, small-form-factor #IoT cameras perfect for tinkering, prototyping, and making slick projects. I taught my Computer Vision with #AI course using their cameras. I'm excited about this new series: full object detection for a few mW. #EdgeAI #ComputerVision #Arduino #MicroPython #embedded #microcontroller
If you want to dive into #Zephyr, come check out my live, virtual webinar on April 24. I’ll demonstrate how to write a device driver from scratch! Sign up here

#MakersHour A2:
I expect I won't be the only person here to say: #3DPrinting
It's pretty revolutionary being able to turn out small custom parts for all sorts of things.
Also an honourable mention to modern #microcontroller platforms and tool-chains. The fact you can just grab something like an ESP32 module for a couple of quid and rapidly have custom code hooked up with sensors, relays, etc and wifi connected is pretty amazing.
TI's tiny #microcontroller is the world's smallest and costs less than 20 cents - https://www.zdnet.com/article/tis-tiny-microcontroller-is-the-worlds-smallest-and-costs-less-than-20-cents/ " This remarkable device is only a little larger than a pepper flake." insane
Part 2 of my Intro to #Zephyr series is out! CMake is a popular tool, even among embedded developers, and Zephyr relies heavily on it for its build process. Get a quick primer on #cmake and see how Zephyr uses it!

Does anyone know QEMU well? I'm trying to figure out how to control the virtual TMP105 built into the #ESP32 fork of QEMU. If I build/run with "idf.py qemu" it magically works (reads from the virtual I2C TMP105 at addr 0x48). How do I change the temp in qemu? #iot #microcontroller
Haven’t done a fun #maker project in a while I wanted to spice up my background in videos, so I built this

Here is the one everyone has been asking for: Introduction to #Zephyr The first episode is out! My plan is to get #embedded devs up to speed on this fast-growing #RTOS. Check it out!

Digging through an old box and found these from back when I'd get any new microcontroller... sigh. Anyone have a use for them?

And the culmination of today's little(!?) side-quest is I now have couple of USB-C/BarrelJack power adapters. One longer, one shorter.
The longer one is just as you last saw it, but I've made a more secure shorter one with the resistor(s) built in. As far as I can tell this works fine for both pulling 5V from a USB-C wall-wart as well as injecting voltage into my USB-C microcontroller boards (in which use case I've not yet looked into whether the resistors between GND and CC1/2 ought cause any issues, "working so far" is the situation.)
This is how I'll connect the solar panel to the remote board, but also useful at the test-bench per se.
Don't come crying to me if you try this and everything goes fizz-pop and bursts into flames. OK.
RIP a large chunk of today's TODO list.
