The booklet/guide of the Carnaval Populaire Et Déter held in Lausanne, Switzerland on March 22. 2025.

Page one shows a map of the amazing & confusing parcours of the parade with a few useful landmarks highlighted & described.

Page two shows a "cartography of fascism and antifascism in Lausanne". The fascist landmarks are shown as a red dot, the antifascist ones as a red star.

The first two videos show people hitting a pinata in the shape of Trump's head until candy falls out.

I think it was so clever to link an #antifascist protest to a known ritual like the #carnival, with its historical meaning. Carnival always had at least a whiff of antifascism. It served to create a space where "normal rules" do not apply, allowing people to speak truth to power. Yesterday we created an explicitly antifascist carnival & it just felt magical. This was exactly what so many of us needed.

And now let us create a similar worldwide street party on May Day.

Here's a slightly different, less cartoon-like project that I had to put on hold years ago for personal reasons. I've always been fascinated by Venetian masks and the colorful carnival, which is why I started this project back then. I have to admit that I'm not sure whether I should continue with it, because others might find it a bit too disturbing or too creepy. But i still like this drawings so much.

Elephanticide

On the side of the deconsecrated church of Sant'Antonin in Castello, there is something which looks like an odd bricked up opening, but it doesn't really look like a window nor a doorway.

The opening was made on March 16th, 1819, with the permission of the Patriarch, because of a slight problem with an elephant.
