Remote mixing session today:
@ardour with Sonobus VST as audio stream. Jitsi for talk and screenshare. Biggest issue was the crappy internet speed.
Always amazed what can be done with FLOSS software these days.

Like #FreeSoftware, #retrocomputing and #radio plays? Have you considered hosting a virtual #SoftwareFreedomDay event with #audio tools like #Mumble https://www.mumble.info/, #Jamulus http://llcon.sourceforge.net/ or #Sonobus https://sonobus.net/ There's a list of Mumble public servers at https://www.mumble.com/serverlist/ There's even an Android app https://f-droid.org/packages/se.lublin.mumla/ They're a great way to share music performances and #SFD talks. #FLOSS #FOSS #SoftwareFreedomDay2023 #OpenSource
Do you prefer #sonobus over #jamulus for #streaming and #recording #internet #jam sessions? #musicproduction #collaboration #linuxaudio #crossplatform https://jamulus.io/ or https://sonobus.net/
Also, newly discovered in the same vein: Sonobus. I've JUST installed it and started it up. It seemed to work okay out of the box, but I don't know how much of that is due to previous futzing around with system settings to make Jamulus work. Now it's time to actually READ the Sonobus User Guide.

Hello I’m an artist and musician in Maryland. Currently dabbling with digital paintings. Teaching Artist with #artsforlearningmd. I play #jazz and also jazz-flavored musical improvisation collaborations on #sonobus.
Kicking things off at the very start, yours truly with a discussion about accessible online jamming/rehearsing/teaching using #Jamulus and #SonoBus, complete with audio examples. Stay tuned. 10:00 BST today, Fri 23 Sep.

Any #musicians on the #fediverse have a minute to try out #sonobus with me?

I'm learning how to do MIDI mapping for #VST control in #reaper so I can use it to host #SonoBus and be able to map all the controllers to get a useable mix. (I fear this may evolve into me writing a helper script in SuperCollider for using the track arrows to control groups bigger than 8, but anyway).
Reaper has really informative (even if unbearably annoying) videos for help and I'm finally going to pay for it, but I'm also wondering what are my FOSS options for VST hosting that have the ability to learn MIDI? This is the first time I've actually wanted to use a VST, so I'm missing a few basic skills here, alas.
