Someday there will be a plug-in that emulates the tiresome workflow of matching an old version of ProTools to an old version of macOS such that it doesn't crash on you because that had such a SOUND to it, you know? Lmao
This plugin is flippin' brilliant. It does that modal resonator/synthesis thing that Ableton producers are hot for these days. I'm demoing it rn to add a little zhuzh to a vocoder, and... take my money.
Plus, it's native on #Linux. Easiest install ever for this Linux newbie here.

I may be a weirdo for this, but I generally prefer the sound of dynamic mics over condenser mics.
And I gotta show some more love to the Beta 58a. I used this mic to record a female vocalist last week, and with some subtle EQ, compression, and reverb for tracking, it sounded like a record already.
I'd love to discover a way to record a piece of music that starts without click and then continues to a click in the middle of it. An external metronome could be triggered by foot pedal, for instance. But could it be done all within the DAW? Has someone devised a #Reaper script for such a thing?
Check out the Signal Transfer Function Analyzer here. I might do a blog post or video or something about how to set it up and interpret the measurements.
I recently discovered a meter/scope for #reaper that displays the transfer curve of a saturation effect! My dreams are a reality! It's fascinating to flip through my different saturation plugins and gain deeper insight into what they're doing. I'm curious if I can approximate my paid plugins with free/stock options.
for those who don't know, I'm open to freelance mastering, art/video creation, & composing. I would love to help get your project in the best aesthetic shape possible - get in touch!

Finally figured out a good mic setup for recording voice and acoustic guitar in two tracks: RE20 and Beta 58 butt-to-butt, with the RE20 pointed at the chin and the Beta 58 pointed downward toward the 1st string at the 12th fret. The hypercardioid pattern of the Beta 58 is especially helpful.
Does anyone know an audio hash or audio fingerprint library, that works also with ultrasonic high-bandwidth sound? (i.e. not just audible frequencies). We want to hash soundfiles (WAV, FLAC, etc) in a database system to match duplicates. #signalprocessing #audiophile #audioengineering
For those of you following along from home, the track, "Recovery" has been released and is available now from BandCamp!
Ngl, one of the downsides of #LinuxAudio is fewer plugins with pretty GUIs that make me believe my music sounds better now.
Oh the contradictions of being a music tech nerd.
The plug-in in question: RM-2 by 5dB5. This thing sounds surprisingly gorgeous for the price. Whatever anti-aliasing it has got, it does it well. The controls are suitable for subtle tone-shaping, sweetening, anything you'd use a preamp for.

Just accidentally found a good way to avoid slouching at the desk.
1. Sit on a something without a backrest
2. Put on headphones that don't isolate too much
3. Place a sensitive microphone in front of you and pipe it into the headphones
4. Crank up the volume
If you slouch forward you'll get piercing feedback right into your ears and straighten up immediately. You'll also wake right the fuck up.
