A Bunch Of Grapes
There is certainly a joy living near one of the most famous wine growing areas in the world. A trip to the vineyards is certainly one of them.
There are a number of wineries where my wife and feel like home at. I have got to know a number of wine makers over the years and have been given the opportunity to photograph a few vineyards unfettered.

his year, a couple of years after planting some cutting, got five grapes! five! small sweet and delicious.
To avoid the council's nosing - they come about once in a while to check that the plots are cultivated, or else is eviction, the grapevine will do the job perfectly; in a few years lol!
Today and yesterday have been busy repairing a few leaks in the greenhouse, refitting the external greenhouse, digging here and there, moving a lot of junk to be recycled, having a break and a cigarette; saw a dragonfly today, size some 3in at a guess as it didn't stop; the usual sparrowsects (as in sus-pects) feeding, found one of the feeders on the ground and empty. Also installed a section of metal net in a hole in the hedge right below the feeder, where feral cats waited for unweary birds to land. Few months ago, found a heap of pigeon feathers; since then a single pigeon shows up and hangs on a while, probably the partner.
Weather has been fine with some rain, hardly any wind and warm enough. More tomorrow.

Phew! Morning at the plot, pulled up the grapes and separated them to be replanted singly at about an equal distance. Had four originally, now have 14, and a few still to go in.
Otherwise so far so good.
My wine grapes are 20 feet up in a pine tree!
No idea what they are, red to purple tight clusters large grapes. The original vine died, this cutting persists but it has one small stem of leaves at eye level that hasn't died and the rest is up in the tree. They rarely get sweet before it freezes or wildlife eats them.

A Wild Grapevine with a bunch of Galls on the leaves. Likely a leaf form of Phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae). Seems the insect nymphs create a gall, lay eggs, eggs hatch, new nymph crawls up shoot to new leaf, creates gall... and repeat. Looks like they ran out of leaves here and just kept attacking the same leaves
Glad it's just wild grapes, which are more of a pain having around than of value...
