As Annie and Aretha sang, Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves. While men get most of the attention and almost all the investment funds, women are doing the work, founding, running and growing food production companies.

We’ve a few local female-founded companies who are stocking shop shelves across the province and country, and supplying restaurants. So, For International Women's Day, I chatted with a couple of them about their journeys:

Day 7 of #COVID, day 4 of #Paxlovid I feel a lot more human but doing anything that requires thinking or physical exertion is still quite a push. Finally unloaded the #sewing supplies from my car for the retreat 1 week ago. I made #BoneBroth last night with my frozen turkey carcass and wilted veggies that I froze. Making red beans and rice in the #InstanPot today with the broth. Not too sure how it will come out but I figured that I can always order pizza if it turns out nasty.

I didn't take pictures this time, my #humblesoup today is poached salmon. I used pesto for extra flavor, but that's optional. Just soften a few veggies in a little oil, unless they're already cooked. Add your broth, and whatever you need to make it tasty, and once it's simmering, add your thawed portion of raw fish. It cooks in just a few minutes, when a fork goes in easily, gently move the fish into your bowl, and pour the broth in with it. Delicious! #quickmeal #bonebroth

We buy treats for our #dog at #costco even though she's a tiny #Chihuahua. She's a picky eater too so it's always a gamble.
