Here's my - I'm a and PhD student. I'm trying to rediscover what I love and what sparks joy - , , science writing, maybe my threads of interest in and that I gave up when art majors weren't approved by my immigrant family. And would you like pointers to help you customize your social media experience?

@mchua Check out the public/explorable timelines of popular instances, or ones where your acquaintances are.

There are many apps; some have lovely functionality that others don't. Browse.

Timed mute, unlisted toots, and the local & federated timelines are neat to enjoy. The federated timeline has been an enjoyable fast-moving river for me to dip into & discover people/hashtags to check out.

I try to share a mix of useful, thoughtful, beautiful, & silly things.

@mchua In the comments of harihareswara.net/posts/2022/m I mention several instances I’ve seen other people recommend/announce, or see people I know happily using; their public timelines are probably good places to visit & find people to follow.

I set up a "list" of people I personally know (a subset of the people I follow) -- folks I particularly want to keep up with. I can read that list instead of my main timeline if I'm in a hurry.

Some people prefer pinafore.social/ as a web interface.
