Welcome to my new interview series. I am the official human spokesperson for the Guardian Monster Guild, editor of the "Monster Times & Review" and author of the glamorous tell-all book, "What Monsters Want". These are hard-won credentials that I have worked tirelessly to obtain. As an ordinary human being, entering the realm of Monsterdom requires a rigorous determination, and an ego that can survive all manner of taunts, threats and indignation. I have endured countless nips, pokes and licks from numerous monsters whose intent, it seems, was to provoke me into giving up. I have proved them wrong! Was thinking of old times. This is Flapjack, the first house rabbit my partner and I got together. I'd had rabbits as a kid, but that was long before.

Flapjack was a bit of a goober. But he was sneaky and smart, too - enough so that we got sick of him getting into trouble (sneaking upstairs and hiding under a bed, falling down said stairs, getting behind something and finding a whole bag of oats that he started eating while totally hidden, ...). We put a collar on him, and a little cat-bell on it, so we could hear him when he went somewhere he wasn't supposed to.

And somehow he still seemed to slip away on us sometimes. We thought we just weren't paying attention. It was a while before we caught him pulling the collar away from himself with his paws until he could get the bell in his mouth, and then he could hop away silently...

We had to make the collar tighter after that.

Flapjack, a brown-and-white mutt of a house rabbit, is shown sitting in a covered cat bed/tent/yurt kind of thing. He has a tea-towel in front of him, and is looking out at the viewer. His ears are erect and he appears observant.
