There is a sense of self-righteousness that seems to come to every form of revolution. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it does tend to amplify the ills rather than aid the remedy.

In the context of Napoleonic era, the continental system was meant to be the remedy, but it only served to highlight the symptoms of the illness.
