I distrust almost everything, especially when it comes to humans. I distrust people aligned with ideologies or beliefs, but also those who say they don't believe in anything. I distrust those who have no ethics or morals, but also those who do.
Humanity loves conflict, wars, power struggles. Every era of history has had its own great conflicts, wars, revolutions and social confrontations. And every conflict has at least two sides, it's always about "us and them."
If you are one of those people who takes sides in every conflict, you are living in a delusion. Wherever there is conflict, there is someone stirring up trouble, someone making waves so that you do not see the reality.
Your hate, your outrage, your fear, and all the mental turmoil that all of this generates in you, generates millions in profits for someone. Leaders, the media, experts in almost everything, They have you on your ass all the time fearing for your life and your dignity, day things are being stolen from you while you think you are fighting and advocating for idealistic causes invented to distract you.
Distract yourself from what? From the peaceful life you should be living. Because people who are not afraid and live peacefully, don't consume the crap they want to sell them.
I refuse to be the cattle of millionaires and powerful people who try to squeeze the lives of others out of greed.

The word shit is spelled and pronounced differently in different countries, according to different languages and cultures. In some countries people shit in gold toilets and in others in mud pits. In some countries, shit is hidden, processed and recycled, even used in art. In others, it is left on the street for everyone to see. It all depends on culture and development.
But there is shit everywhere and everywhere stinks, looks bad and smells bad.
The same goes for politics, ideologies and beliefs. They are everywhere, of different colors and sizes, but they all stink equally. They are the shit of cultures.

If you are upset that someone uses a term to describe your identity or ideology because it is the predominant one within a society, you should think about why it makes you feel uncomfortable. People are going to create terms to describe identities or ideologies so that we can talk about and understand them. Being upset because a trans person called you cis or a vegan/vegetarian called you a carnist or any number of other words that describe the predominant identity or ideology within a society is just ridiculous and says more about your views than any one else's.
People are going to create words to talk about identities or ideologies so being upset that yours is being described is nonsensical. If you are so sure about your ideology or identity, why take issue with other people describing it?

@histoire 🧶

The tech world is in a state of chaos and dysfunction, to compost this mess it’s crucial that we reckon with the consequences of our past decisions to understand how we arrived at this point.

Over the past four decades, there has been an intertwining of #postmodernist social thinking and #neoliberal economic ideology. This marriage of #ideologies has fractured societal values and pushed down ideological divides, leading to right-wing polarization and dysfunction in both politics and technology.

In the realm of technology, this has translated into the proliferation of centralized platforms and the erosion of community. We’ve witnessed the rise of platforms that push profit over people’s well-being, exacerbating societal divisions and amplifying disinformation and hate speech.

As we confront existential threats like #climatechange and ecological degradation, it’s imperative that we acknowledge our role in shaping the current reality. For forty years, we’ve marched down this dark path, shaping our “human nature” through collective choices and actions.

The next four decades will be marked by hardship and suffering as we grapple with the consequences of our actions. But we must take responsibility for charting a new course forward. It’s well past time to reject the poisoned philosophies and dogmatic economic doctrines that have brought us to this precipice.

We must reclaim agency over our collective future and commit to a path of social healing, reconciliation, and renewal. This begins with the first step of acknowledging our complicity in creating this mess and embracing the power of collective action and solidarity to fix it.

#stupidindividualism let’s try please not to just push mess back at this text. It’s essential not to view this social thinking as an individualistic moral judgment. The effectiveness of postmodernism and neoliberalism in achieving their goals is evident, the judgment lies in our collective choice of path.

The disintegration of social norms and the widening gap between the rich and the poor are natural outcomes of the path we’ve chosen over the last four decades. It’s not just about moral judgment; it’s about recognizing the consequences of our choices and taking steps to course correct towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. And away from the current “common sense” mess.

Yes, if you hear the shouting “don’t be a prat” it’s likely needed 😉

#Geopolitics #5G #China #Ideologies: "This paper explores how infrastructural ideologies function as tools in geopolitical struggles for dependence and independence between world powers. Meese et al. (2020) suggest that controversies around 5G stem from infrastructural anxieties best examined in the framework of geopolitics. We build on this work by analysing the emerging infrastructural ideology and sociotechnical imaginaries (Jasanoff and Kim, 2015) of 5G in light of the changing global division of labour. Sociotechnical imaginaries refer to the vision of technologies themselves, while ideologies refer to the totality of social relations, translating the objective reality of material conditions to subjective lived experience (Bory, 2020). The Western imaginaries around 5G infrastructures reflect, deflect, translate and sublimate the infrastructural anxieties tied to the development and deployment of new network paradigms by China as an emerging hegemon. The controversial nature, contradictory content and fragmented presentation of 5G is a necessary part of living through the trauma of lost historical agency on the part of Western superpowers. We engaged in code ethnography (Rosa, 2022) of GSM, internet and 5G technologies, as well as participant observation in the main standard-development organisations of the internet and 5G. Our methodological assumption, taken from world systems theory (Wallerstein, 2004), is that the character and content of imaginaries and their underpinning ideologies creatively translate the position of actors in the global division of labour. This paper contributes to the understanding of the role of media infrastructures in geopolitical power tussles and straddles the fields of materialist media studies, science and technology studies and international relations."
