The #DUP #TUV and loyalist activist 🚮 continue to waste massive sums of taxpayers money arguing that Ireland’s national language shouldn’t be on signage in Ireland; meanwhile there’s insufficient housing, agricultural pollution affecting much of our AONB and water bodies, prices are about to rise exponentially because of Trump tariffs, a UK ETA for visitors to six countries of Northern Ireland that will cost tourism and hospitality a lot in discontinued bookings, and a likely rise in unemployment as the effect of tariffs impact around the world.
But two languages on a signboard……. Pass the smelling salts.

Starmer can’t grovel deep enough in the hope of staving off negative attention from the White House and as any history of Trump shows, that doesn’t work. He throws everyone under the bus, as that’s what greedy monstrous bullies do.
Starmer really needs to look at the incalculable damage aligning with the US will do to the UK, and particularly to Northern Ireland.
He must be persuaded to take account of the Good Friday Agreement, the NI Protocol and ensure more alignment with the EU than with the US.
If he does not the UK will be a pariah with all its closest geographic neighbours.

BBC News - BBC World · Starmer: UK will keep 'cool head' after tariff announcementBy BBC News - BBC World

You know what would make life better for everyone? If the British left Northern Ireland and returned it to be part of an independent whole country, all of which is in the EU. Then Hilary wouldn’t have to try and boss Ireland or the EU over tariffs. What would work well also would be the UK aligning themselves with the EU, rather than cowering in acquiescence before the toxic bullying of the USA.

I wonder how much Jamie Bryson costs the UK taxpayer every year? He’s hardly ever out of the courts, as he takes legal action after legal action over very important life changing subjects such as dual language signage in the new Belfast Central Transport hub, or a new pre-school or playgroup in Irish, or a GAA pitch were everyone can play camogie, hurling etc. He’s not a lawyer, a barrister, a KC, or a solicitor. He’s not called to the bar, and has no legal qualifications, but he sure know how to take up an immense amount of court time.
Even the #UUP and #DUP avoided this one, simply stating they would raise it in Stormont.
On his Xitter timeline he uses inflammatory rhetoric like ‘divisive, agressive demands, imposition’ and claims the use of Irish is some kind of attack on Unionism. No one is forcing him to read anything in Irish ever.

BBC NewsGrand Central Station: Irish language signs paused over legal actionLoyalist activist Jamie Bryson lodges challenge over approval of £150,000 for Irish language signs at Belfast station.

How pathetic are the #DUP #TUV and their tame troll 🚮? It seems to have escaped their attention that they live in IRELAND, and this is our national language; it’s legal, it’s used in Courts, in Stormont; has been used by our MPs in House of Commons, and by various members of the royal family on State visits to Ireland - north and south.
No one is holding their heads in a fixed position or forcing them to read anything in Irish. All the signage will also be available in English, for those who cannot tell the difference between Beal Feriste and Belfast.
🚮 aka Jamie Bryson is trying to lodge legal objection against Irish Language signage with the courts.
We have so many problems, not least the reduction in PIPs and other benefits, the negative effects of the new ETA, the problems being caused by the American administration worldwide; and this kind of bigotry is what gets them up in the morning. Sigh

BelfastTelegraph.co.uk · DUP intends to put ‘marker down’ at Executive on Irish language signs at stationBy By David Young, PA
Replied in thread

@murchadhfinn Labour MPs could change this: they are continuing to express ‘concerns’ and similar sentiment. But they urgently need to take some actions. Abstention votes and nice words don’t cut it. They can turn this around IF they put a VONC against the Front Bench & PM: IF they vote against these policies: IF they cross the floor and join either the Greens or Corbyns Independents. But they won’t. Starmer’s obeisance to Trump means nothing for Trump except to highlight another mark he can bully and intimidate when he wants to. It’s bad for England, Scotland, Wales, and it’s going to be really bad for Northern Ireland unless we get a #UI asap. #Think32

Speaking as a Northern Irish Protestant, some Unionists have completely colonial attitudes to the place.

The North of Ireland does not need these sorts of politicians; it does not need the Union at all.

And Unionism, if you like that sort of thing, would be better and more successful without them.

Is Sunak actually proposing conscripting Irish Nationalist and Republican teenagers in the North of Ireland to the British Army? If so, lol, good luck with that.

If not, I’d just point out that the North of Ireland was
exempted from conscription in both WW1 and WW2. If it is to be exempted from National Service, maybe a lot of teenagers would find changing their home addresses to Belfast or Derry an attractive option?

<< some NI unionists are jumping on this as an excuse to argue for a hard border in Ireland.

Exactly like #Brexit and later the #Protocol, they are missing that this issue *encourages* a harder border between #Ireland and Great Britain, and grows support for unification by implying the current NI model doesn't work.

legacy of Empire is yet to be ended in the relation to the UK union.

I have friends and family in England, I wish you no harm, I hope that you can restore sanity to the politics there, for all our sakes, while we are still part of this union.

However, I just don't want to be part of the UK union any longer. I would like your influence over the place I call home gone - the British ruling classes have done enough damage. It is time to go, so we can repair it.

It is time to #Think32

This is absolutely depressing and funny at the same time!

#Westminster our sovereign government - haven't got a fu**ing clue about us here.

They use the wrong flag for starters and that is Scottish dancing being represented there not Irish dancing.

For #Unionism that has to be a boot in the ba**s - the #Sunak Government couldn't care one iota about us!
