Another little rant about #UI design these days… my father was complaining to me about some network issue that was preventing him from filling out a form for his blue card (he's got to apply for one due to some work with a church).
Apparently the problem was he filled the form in but the submit button was greyed out (disabled).

I check, he's entered in the license number and date of birth… but missed that above both of these, is a drop-down box. (I have highlighted this.)
In Web 1.0 days, that selection box would have a definite, clear and obvious, border around it, and the down arrow button would be a clear and obviously clickable square, possibly with a pseudo-3D highlight/shadow on it.
Now in this age of "Material Design" it's a flat almost invisible decoration.
