Another little rant about #UI design these days… my father was complaining to me about some network issue that was preventing him from filling out a form for his blue card (he's got to apply for one due to some work with a church).

Apparently the problem was he filled the form in but the submit button was greyed out (disabled).

This was the form… my.bluecard.qld.gov.au/login

I check, he's entered in the license number and date of birth… but missed that above both of these, is a drop-down box. (I have highlighted this.)

In Web 1.0 days, that selection box would have a definite, clear and obvious, border around it, and the down arrow button would be a clear and obviously clickable square, possibly with a pseudo-3D highlight/shadow on it.

Now in this age of "Material Design" it's a flat almost invisible decoration.

Starmer can’t grovel deep enough in the hope of staving off negative attention from the White House and as any history of Trump shows, that doesn’t work. He throws everyone under the bus, as that’s what greedy monstrous bullies do.
Starmer really needs to look at the incalculable damage aligning with the US will do to the UK, and particularly to Northern Ireland.
He must be persuaded to take account of the Good Friday Agreement, the NI Protocol and ensure more alignment with the EU than with the US.
If he does not the UK will be a pariah with all its closest geographic neighbours.

So Warteschlangensysteme sind ja immer... lustig. You know what would make life better for everyone? If the British left Northern Ireland and returned it to be part of an independent whole country, all of which is in the EU. Then Hilary wouldn’t have to try and boss Ireland or the EU over tariffs. What would work well also would be the UK aligning themselves with the EU, rather than cowering in acquiescence before the toxic bullying of the USA.

Buenos días. Una cosa muy peligrosa de @moshidon, el cliente que uso para el fedi, es que, si bloqueas a un user, te sale un mensaje o diálogo previo antes de la acción. Pero si bloqueas un dominio o instancia, lo hace del tirón. Y las dos opciones de bloqueo están una al lado de la otra en la interfaz.

Ayer, queriendo bloquear a un user de .social, bloqueé toda la instancia sin querer. Aunque lo desbloqueé al instante, la metedura de pata tuvo como consecuencia que he dejado de seguir a varios centenares de usuaries que me toca ahora recuperar como buenamente pueda

Diálogo en el que puedes silenciar, bloquear o denunciar un user, bloquear la instancia de ese user, entre otras opciones
Diálogo previo que te aparece si bloqueas un user en el que re pregunta si quieres realmente bloquearlo y las consecuencias de hacerlo. Al bloquear una instancia no te sale ningún diálogo o mensaje previo a la acción.

I wonder how much Jamie Bryson costs the UK taxpayer every year? He’s hardly ever out of the courts, as he takes legal action after legal action over very important life changing subjects such as dual language signage in the new Belfast Central Transport hub, or a new pre-school or playgroup in Irish, or a GAA pitch were everyone can play camogie, hurling etc. He’s not a lawyer, a barrister, a KC, or a solicitor. He’s not called to the bar, and has no legal qualifications, but he sure know how to take up an immense amount of court time.
Even the #UUP and #DUP avoided this one, simply stating they would raise it in Stormont.
On his Xitter timeline he uses inflammatory rhetoric like ‘divisive, agressive demands, imposition’ and claims the use of Irish is some kind of attack on Unionism. No one is forcing him to read anything in Irish ever.
