#starmer #trade #tarrifs Edited from #Guardian live stream.
Keir Starmer has rejected claims that the expected imposition of US tariffs on Britain means he has been “played” by President Trump. Starmer .. "the #UK and the #US were at an “advanced stage” in negotiating an economic deal, ..this could lead to the UK getting exemptions from US tariffs in future" Steven Swinford (the #Times) “But US is refusing to sign it until after hitting UK with tariffs on April 2, aka Liberation Day,” #UKPol

I'm highly skeptical of this line of reasoning for a few reasons. First, contrary to popular belief, Trump was elected because he's a fascist. That's what Republican voters wanted, they liked what he was selling (to quote Elie Mystal)
Second, Trump has a massive cult of personality around him that most Republican voters are deeply invested in

I'm currently listening to the 99PI read along of the power broker, and I've of the core concepts there that Robert Moses used to finance his bridges and highways are the tolls that everyone paid when using these roads. This mostly hits normal folks who have less disposable income. #Trump #tarrifs remind me of that. Because tarrifs between countries mainly hit us ordinary folks. The rich people ordering them are barely affected. What's the benefits of these specific ones in the #us?

Jens,

The tariffs are a world economy destabilisation, aimed at invading Canada, as well as destabilising and subverting, Europe, and to support the Russian dictator.

Tariffs are also a HUGE tax on the American people, they will crush the economy, stealing wages, while giving trillions to Billionaires.

The dictator(s) make(s) us allies, because it makes us all victims.

In some slight seriousness if you live in the US and you were planning on buying a new car, I’d do it before March 31st. Not only is end of month generally the best time to buy sitting inventory. Tarrifs on imported cars (that includes American brands) will be put in place. Don’t buy into any dellusions, the price of cars will never go down again. The average price of a new car was already 45,000 USD. After April 2nd it will only go up. Even if all car parts are magically made in the US there after.

#trump is putting #tarrifs on #venezuela now which is just gonna make all gas in the #usa MORE EXPENSIVE as they are a huge exporter of oil and natural gas to the USA and other places. It's also going to hurt them as that is one of their primary natural resources they export.

I am getting tired of these tantrum tariffs. Pretty sure they only happened cuz he was told he couldn't randomly send 200 unproven gang members to El Salvador.

JP Morgan has predicted that the USA is going to now be outperformed by both the EU and Japan soon.

GDP will stagnate and inflation is going to skyrocket, and we are going to fall into a deep recession, even if the #tarrifs stop right now.

We are going to be more poor, all for some stupid show that should have NEVER happened at all.

I DESPISE #maga. In no uncertain terms.

They elected the village idiot.
