Which is the cheaper model that has been announced?
I'll tell you. The #FrameworkDesktop Motherboard at $800 with (soldered) 32GB LPDDR5. Not a consumer-oriented product.
So yeah, the bulk of consumers will pick an RTX computer or a Mac.
Kudos to AMD and HP for making Strix Halo dead on arrival

No SSD. No OS. No CPU Fan. No Expansion Card.
Yeah, thanks but no thanks. By the time these ship in Q3 2025 (July-September) you will have competitive laptops with #StrixHalo and an #RTX on shelves, and the #MacStudio.
The #Framework Desktop PC really is something I'm interested in, but I wonder how the pricing will work.
At $1,099 doesn't seem too bad, buy even then it still has to battle with laptops with an RTX at that price point.
Again, the #RTX + Intel combo is readily available in terms of graphics and #AI power, so I don't see this flying off from shelves, but what do I know.
So much ado about #StrixHalo but no price.
My guess is that these “design wins” will be very narrow because price-wise these don’t (and won’t) make sense.
Given the pricing of #StrixPoint going from $1,200 upwards, I have ZERO faith on #StrixHalo sales.
Both Max 385 and Max 390 look like the sweet spots, but you won't beat the availability of #Intel laptops with #RTX cards starting at $800. And the #MacBook exists.
#AMD should really start to get their pricing right.
It’s a shame that HX 370 it’s noticeable pricier than prior generation.
This means less people buying a better #Laptop, #Handled, #MiniPC, and pivoting to #Qualcomm, #Intel and #Apple products. That’s is giving away market share.
If #StrixHalo follows suit with a worse price tag, the platform will be DOA. Mark my words.
After reading some theories about the HX 370 price situation, these are my conclusions about why they’re being sold at 2x the price of #HawkPoint:
- Larger die, less units per wafer
- TSMC N4P high cost and low allocation
- Top-tier SoC (efficiency wise)
- Focus on datacenter chip allocation
- First to market
These are perfect reasons to sell #StrixPoint higher, double, than the prior generation.
Who knows if #StrixHalo or next wave pushes their price down or not.
A big leap over the #MiniPC performance may come when:
- #MacMini releases with #AppleM4 (Q4 2024)
- #AMD unveils #StrixHalo (H1 2025).
Given the power envelope of what should be #HX380 and #HX390, I expect they will be on high-end laptops and Mini PC.
It always comes down to price. Who knows if a desktop or Mac Mini M4 performs better per dollar than a Mini PC with Strix Halo.
