If anyone, anyone at all (?) was confused, the speaker has his nose well into the trough, a man who disregards parliamentary conventions (pretty much all they have In the place of rules) to suit whoever is in power.

Commons Speaker’s £180k bill for first-class flights and hotels. One trip to a luxury Cayman Islands resort by Lindsay Hoyle cost the taxpayer nearly £23,000

Lindsay Hoyle is back sticking his beak in and talking nonsense again.

Yes, Toronto Wolfpack were a failure.

Why would rugby league and Super League want a club like them, who had their lowest 2019 home crowd of 5,769, when they can get 3,877 at Huddersfield for St. Helens?

He'd fit in well with many of the top flight owners (and Keighley) who want to only play clubs that are within a five foot radius of them.

Love Rugby League · RFL President slams IMG gradings and calls for promotion and relegation to returnBy Ben Olawumi

Hey everyone, Lindsay Hoyle thinks this thuggery and bad sportsmanship might effect some members of the house, particularly those sluts who flaunt themselves with a prominent looking office.

How quickly our country descended into the sort of nightmare the Americans are living in...how did this happen? /s

Never mind, so long as we have men of such calibre as Lindsay at the helm, it'll be fine. 🤡

#AnotherAngryVoice | #LindsayHoyle's excuses for ignoring #DianeAbbott are beyond ridiculous

"Denying Diane Abbott the opportunity to speak prevented her from highlighting her continued suspension from the Parliamentary Labour Party, and the history of horrific racism and bullying she suffered at the hands of Labour Party insiders."

“The Commons speaker made a mistake and he is seeking to make amends. To continue with his persecution is bad for politics.”

What is “bad for politics” is to make up the rules as you go along, particularly if to favour the party you represented as an MP, the leader of which has pressured (sorry, “urged”) you to so do.

The Guardian · The Guardian view on parliamentary chaos: to err is human, to self-correct is to learnBy Editorial

OK, I've been travelling most of this week and only keeping half an eye on UK news, so can someone explain to me what's going on with this nonsense with Lindsay Hoyle?

I understand that he changed the order of voting on an SNP motion and a Labour amendment in an unconventional way, and that was controversial.

And I understand he's been criticised for "giving in to threats of violence".

I don't understand how those things are connected.

What am I missing?
