I'm not a fan of Diane Abbott but she gets a lot of very unsavoury attacks aimed at her for absolutely no good reason and Lindsay Hoyle's treatment of her today was downright shabby.

So this is either inherent racism from the people in our parliament ...

What is “bad for politics” is to make up the rules as you go along, particularly if to favour the party you represented as an MP, the leader of which has pressured (sorry, “urged”) you to so do.
OK, I've been travelling most of this week and only keeping half an eye on UK news, so can someone explain to me what's going on with this nonsense with Lindsay Hoyle?
I understand that he changed the order of voting on an SNP motion and a Labour amendment in an unconventional way, and that was controversial.
And I understand he's been criticised for "giving in to threats of violence".
I don't understand how those things are connected.
What am I missing?
