@ustralien Sadly no, and that's my big disappointment!

@frameworkcomputer decided to choose the #Apple-esque "flat cells below #trackpad" design in the unreasonable #THINN-ness race instead of doing what even the #EeePC and #Sony's #Vaio #P11Z did and have a slot at the back to chug in batteries!

  • I know why they did it, as a closed aluminium pan aka. "#lunchbox" design is easier to fabricate, but I'd rather some #ToolfreeSwappableBattery which are IMHO of more practicality than having the ability to swap out every port.

Not that I don't like those #modules, but I'd rather wish for a "#THICC-er" device if that gets me essentials like #Ethernet, #USB-A & -C as well as a #TRRS #HeadphoneJack / #HeadsetJack.

That being said the #Framework is still by a long margin the "least #enshittified" device on the market, and same goes for the #Fairphone devices...

Not to mention they don't have an #UltraNav-Style #Trackpoint and I do use that instead of a Trackpad.

What really pisses me off is that everyone thinks @frameworkcomputer and #Fairphone are glorious, when in fact even #Framework13 & #Fairphone4 / #Fairphone5 are objectively #Downgrade|s compared to what I'm currently using: [ #ThinkPad #X230Tablet & #Fairphone3plus ]

@vxo Yeah, I know, everyone likes the #GP200 with the pogo pins.

  • Personally, I think that with the expired #MagSafe patent they could include such a safe-breaking connection.

Or even better: JUST INCLUDE A #HeadphoneJack (like any sane person wants)!

@chr1st1an thanks.

I did hear about @shiftphones / #shift in the past, but that #HeadphoneJack / #HeadsetJack is kinda non-negotiable.

  • I can understand why no phone supports #OMTP instead of #CTIA for the #Headset but that is fixable with a cheap, passive adaptor...

Still, for others this may be the option...

@Pandora @murena @e_mydata @gael
I am aware of #murena and #eOS and I do think they are great.

MastodonLouis 🇫🇷 (@louisgrasset@mastodon.social)I’m tired of people not understanding that they have so niche needs / requirements that nobody expect a few other people will actually buy this device From: @kkarhan@infosec.space https://infosec.space/@kkarhan/113263916456528505

Why are there no good phones on the market?

I don't want much:

@lmorchard I'm still not a fan of #Fairphone cancelling the #Headphone jack for no good reason.

I mean, #Sony made the #XperieZ3 that was literally advertised for #Selfies in the #pool and that had a #TRRS 3,5mm jack so no excuse to not have on on the #Fairphone4 & #Fairphone5.

Maybe put it on a replaceable module or include some attached rubber pin to seal it shut when not in use...

#Fairphone3+ #HeadphoneJack

Still, I am looking for something that comes close to my #Fairphone3plus since #Fairphone doesn't offer the #Fairphone3+ anymore and all subsequent models neither have real #DualSIM nor #HeadphoneJack and both are (like a #toolfree-replaceable and swappable battery) non-negotiable #MustHave - Features...

So if you find some good #Android device that does that and isn't instant #Abandonware like the #Unihertz #Jelly Series with their #GluedInBatteries let me know down below...

One thing I like about the #Xperia is that #Sony is not brave enough to take away #microSD readers, #headphoneJack , a fingerprint reader outside the screen or top and bottom bezels for front facing speakers.

And this without taking away of those flagship goodies like godlike 21:9 screen or a camera straight from Sony's R&D

And even the short update support can be mitigated by Sony's excellent support for #AOSP
