#GoodNews - Several of my local small farm friends will benefit from this new program👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

#CRD will sow the seeds of #FoodSecurity & #GrowingFood in the region as it embarks on a new #foodlands access service.

The goal is to enhance food security & address concerns over the rising cost of #farmland by facilitating affordable access to productive land for new & expanding #farmers.

Saanich News · CRD digs in to farming with new foodland serviceBy Christine van Reeuwyk

The Ramiro (long pointy bell pepper) I grew from a seed is turning red! It's only about 10 cm long, but I'm still super impressed! Especially for something I grew from a seed that I took from a supermarket vegetable 😃

I'm not sure what will happen after I "harvest" this one, but I'll try to get a second harvest out of it for sure! Who knows, it may even work a lot better if I try this in the correct season (not sure when that is, but I'm pretty sure it isn't winter 😅)

#introduction Where to begin and what labels do we use to describe who we are? I say we as I feel I am many people, but all with one goal. To live as freely and with as much resilience as one can do in the face of extreme conditions.
I'm into #permaculture #foodforests specifically, #syntropicagroforestry I #homestead and raise animals and #growfood I also help shape little people via #forestschool and I'm guide for #adventurewalks and a soon to be official, #author
Let the journey begin.

All of the microgreen batches I've grown so far have been a single species, and generally I do prefer it that way (similar height for easy cutting, can tweak conditions and timing for particular species). But this was my first mixed greens batch, and it came out great. I think I'll do one of these every 3-4 from now on, for the sake of variety.
