Google Assistant has been enshittified! Every single advance into "AI" for Google Assistant past the initial genius ML model has been worse for simple use-cases.

Google is phasing out several features from Google Assistant and replacing it with the new AI app, Gemini.

The removed features include: photo information access, interpreter mode, birthday reminders, daily updates, and Family Bell announcements.

Some features, like Routines, are not yet available in Gemini.
