The Five Continents.

So, this is not some sort of AI generated photo, but it is a real existing building.

If you are ever in the city of Antwerp, be sure not to miss ‘The Five Continents’ an Art-Deco building colloquially known as ‘the boat house’ or ‘the little boat’ for it’s facade which has a balcony in the form of a ship.

Built in 1901 to the plans of architect Frans Smet-Verhas and commissioned by the boat builder Petrus Roeis, it was sold 2 years ago for funny money (a 2 and 6 zero’s) to a lawyer firm.

Wooden house.

Don’t be fooled. This is NOT the oldest house in #Antwerp. However, it is the oldest house in Antwerp with a wooden facade. Dating from 1546 it has survived 6 wars although sadly, due to a restoration in the ‘70s the facade has had a transformation and isn’t original anymore.

I was given this vintage Pentax by a friend who inherited it from his father. Knowing my fondness for the Pentax brand, he thought it would find a good home with me. I must admit, though, I’ve yet to buy a roll of film for it—something I hope to remedy soon.

In a spontaneous attempt at low-key photography, I experimented with various household items to manipulate light. Instead of my K-1 II with a macro lens, I chose my Q-S1 with the 15-45mm to honor the 110’s compact charm.

This moonshot was captured using a Pentax Q-S1, a tiny 12-megapixel interchangeable lens camera released in 2014. It's almost toy-like in size, small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. However, when paired with my 150-450mm telephoto lens (see comments), its 4.65 crop factor results in a focal length of over 2000mm full-frame equivalent.

Yesterday I went to Velofollies in #Kortrijk. As I had some time to kill before the train to arrive for te way back, I decided to visit the #begijnhof. Situated not far from the cities Grote Markt, it turned out to be an excellent decision as there wasn't too much people (as you will be able to tell from the pictures.)

It's recently been renovated and a #UNESCO #Heritage site. Really enjoyed it. The #Pentax #Q7 and 08 wide Zoom did too.

The Begijnhof Kortrijk is one of 13 that is pretected heritage in Belgium. It's a place where woman gathered and were self-supporting, because there was an overpopulation of women due to warfare and famine. A real city within a city the houses were small and white with almost always a chapel in the middle.
