Reading rumors that Apple is planning a significant resdesign for the 20th anniversary iPhone.
All I'm saying is that they already have a high bar set for 20th anniversary product designs.

Current status: still don’t want to, but it’s improving. #macintosh
“One of two launch applications for the #Apple #Macintosh in 1984, #MacPaint is emblematic of the Macintosh’s early quirky revolutionary branding, focus on ease of use, and appeal to artistic customers. Using the source code, we examine the design and implementation of the application.” https://ztoz.blog/posts/macpaint-source-code/
the interior of the cisco 2500 series is particularly interesting as it’s full of 90s era hardware. those are two 8mb and one 16mb 72-pin simms
rarely mentioned is the cpu that powers this little mighty mite: a motorola mc68ec030 - a 25 mhz embedded variant of the mc68030 cpu in a preponderance of macintosh 68k systems in the 90s.
this router is effectively more powerful than my mac LC 475
i picked this particular router for one reason: it supports AppleTalk right out of the box!
Anyone know what the CRT refresh rate on the original Mac / Fat Mac / Mac Plus is? 60Hz?
A great new article by Jeffrey Starr, Investigating MacPaint's Source Code: https://ztoz.blog/posts/macpaint-source-code/
That's really fantastic! Not just a listing of all Mac OS (and NeXT) versions — they can also be started in the browser. My first system was 6.5. and yours?
I wonder how much of an advantage it was for #Apple that the #m68k #Macintosh had a bunch of its operating system in a separate ROM chip.
#Microsoft #Windows didn't have that. The whole thing had to be loaded from disk into RAM.
Windows 1.0 required no less than 256kB of RAM—twice as much as the first #Mac model had.
I’m definitely getting the new Power Mac — in 20 to 30 years, like I’ve been doing with the G3, G4, G5, and every other one since. It’s tradition at this point.
Before Archive Utility there was StuffIt. Howard Oakley takes us down memory lane:

I am proud to announce that my Macintosh Magazine Media project has surpassed my self-imposed goal of 1 MILLION FILES, an achievement that fills me with both immense satisfaction and slight bewilderment. #marchintosh #macintosh #preservation #cdrom #files

@tomjennings i had no idea he wrote this manual. it is one of the best technical manuals i’ve ever used - and recently!
rest in peace scot. your contributions won’t be forgotten in this house.
By designing the icons for the 1984 #macintosh Susan Kare added a much needed personal touch to the computer industry.
Her icons were incredibly descriptive given they were just 32 × 32 pixels, and at that resolution she may also have been paid the most money-per-pixel of any digital artist in history! (I hear apple did pay her well)
Happy #MARCHintosh
Oh Infinite Mac now has support for some early versions of Mac OS X!

I'm very happy with the results. I went in not knowing if I was going to be able to succeed at all. This thing is just so brittle, and I had never attempted to replace a polarizing filter before. Given that I now have an almost fully working #PowerBook #5300C (sans working speaker, future project!) is so cool.
Move over, Jeff Goldblum. I now I have the power to save the world
Alright, that's the end of my nerd-spam. Hope you enjoyed it!
For example, I left the filter larger than the display as I wanted to make sure it would cover everything fully and no dust could get in. I went a bit too far and this caused some parts of the filter to bend ever so slightly by the plastic frame of the display.
This doesn't cause stress on any of the parts, it just means the light reflects a bit differently in some places, which if you know what you're looking for can be obvious.
