My #SundaySong is going up on Saturday this week for reasons. This is a stripped down version of a Kurt Weill/Ogden Nash song told from the point of view of a statue of Venus that has come to life in the modern era. From the #musical "One Touch of Venus," this is "I'm A Stranger Here Myself."

New #uke, who dis? Plays and sounds very different from my others, and I am not yet used to it, but I had a new way of doing Michael Nesmith's "Nine Times Blue" that I was determined to squeak out on this beautiful archtop, so here it is, warts and all. Also laid in some #kalaubass if you listen closely enough.

When I performed #Cracker's "Been Around The World" at #openmic this week I started it in a voice and tempo I'd never even thought of before, and found myself locked in and liking it. I can't quite capture the energy I felt with that sound booming out into the room, but this isn't a bad approximation either. Added some #KalaUBass and guess what? One take on that. Having a good week with this song!

This week's #SundaySong is an old Soft Cell lament, "Say Hello Wave Goodbye." Have always loved this song, could never imagine I'd have the ability to perform it. Vocals and keys live as shown, and once again I went to my trust #KalaUBass to provide a little something extra, which 90% of people won't hear because there's no bass to be found through phone or laptop speakers.

Joining this instance to share and find other #musicians. I'm a beginner, and post songs most Sundays.

This week's #SundaySong is one I've tried to do since I started singing and playing four years ago. Turns out what I needed to make it work was this year's Christmas present to myself, a beautiful #Kala #ElectricUkulele. There's some #KalaUBass layered underneath this as well.

This is Cracker's "Big Dipper."

After learning for several months on a #KalaUBass, I bought a “real” #bassguitar earlier this year, a 1987 Yamaha with a great sound. I’ll admit I found the shiny black look kinda boring but didn’t want to plaster it with stickers—then I found the perfect decal, an outline of the #FultonChainOfLakes (our favorite place) in the #Adirondacks, which made the perfect accent. If only I could play as cool as that looks.

On Sundays, I post a #sundaysong. They're not polished, I'm just a #musician who began pretty late in life and is slowly learning, and part of that learning is just putting music out there. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't.

This is Dar Williams' "End of the Summer," with digital piano and U-bass – recorded the vox and piano live then layered the bass in Ableton.
