a regular winter guest at our shores at western #BalticSea is the #dunlin (Calidris alpina). During this time of the year they are in their winter plumage.
The german name of this bird is #Alpenstrandläufer ( = Alpine beach runner), which is really weird ;-)

@inherentlee They are lovely, thank you for sharing :) I've never seen Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus), very interesting. In Europe, but we do have a similar looking Charadriidae: common ringed plover (Charadrius hiaticula).

One of my favourites is #PurpleSandpiper (Calidris maritima). They can be spotted in winter at western #BalticSea (also near #Kiel).
