In general, what was a chaotic nightmare of a journey when I had to go to London for work last week - Nikki did ask if I had my phone charger today, which is fair when I had to borrow hers last time! - has been suspiciously smooth so far today.

My little train wasn't delayed or canceled (that is getting better these days, it used to be a given), I haven't missed anything I've forgotten yet, and my train is empty enough I can take off my mask for now.

It's me, a white guy with dark brown hair, glasses on a colorful chain, a fuzzy chinbeard, and a navy and white button-up shirt. I'm sitting next to a train window, it's still at the station so you can see the roof and some advertising out the window.

I have done perhaps the most fedi thing ever, which is boost someone's trans visibility selfie, notice she works on trains, start following her for this reason, spot yesterday that she was talking about sighted guiding as a thing she does at work, thanked her for being so conscientious about it because it's a thing I rely on, finding out she works at the station I most frequently need assistance at, including this morning, and then get assistance from her!

It's like #TransOnTrains squared :)

The fast routes to London are ALL blocked today ("due to emergency services dealing with an incident"), so I'm going to be seeing more of the Midlands than I expected and at much lower speeds: my train will be taking an extra hour at least.

But when I grumbled about this to my group chat, a friend said "I mean the important question is have you posted a train selfie on social media?!"

I had not even taken one!

Here we go, #TransOnTrains, for longer than I should be today!

It's me, a white guy with glasses on a colorful chain (it's made of glass beads that are catching the sun in this photo from the window next to me), a green t-shirt, a black FFP2 mask, and hair that looked really neat until I had to put a hat on to go outside because it's sunny today, and thus is messy now.
