pleased to report that the Dovahkiin helmet planting survived the winter. the bloodgrass is a bit behind the other plants but i was most concerned about the ivy. turns out even the houseplant varieties of English ivy will survive sub-zero temperatures with some winter protection.

This time, we're headed off the topic of Oblivion and onto...oh, the effects of one of the Daedric princes of Oblivion on Tamrielic goings-on? :axolotl_shock: :drgn_laugh_sweat:

Succubard Gently Reads: [The Brothers of Darkness]
youtube.com/watch?v=3Ta3DgLgY4

Yup, it's the dark brotherhood, a group that stems from an earlier group who was born of a worship for Mephala :cat_giggle: The Dark Brotherhood quest-line is, as I hear it, a lot of people's favourites when it comes to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, from the way it's introduced to how it plays out, and it's often used as a barometer to measure other quest-lines up against, both in Oblivion and in other TES games.

Hopefully, you enjoy getting a bit of a look into the history of the organisation~ :frog_blush:

I've been invited onto the team for Tuxborn, the Skyrim modpack! I'll be contributing documentation for them, doing roundups of information of interest to Tuxborn players, about its content, followers, custom armor and weapons, and more! Watch this space for additional visibility for that modpack very soon--as well as Tuxborn's official release!

Succubard Gently Reads [The Doors of Oblivion]
youtube.com/watch?v=EX7kwmYddi

This book is about the same mage as the the one who wrote the book On Oblivion (which I've also read, if you're curious). They're both wonderful primers for understanding the daedric realms :bugcat_nod: (and a handful of their various princes)

This recording was honestly frustrating as hell to get recorded because of environmental factors leading to somewhere between 30+ discarded takes, but it was worth it, and I can't wait until tomorrow comes so I can work on the next one :shiba_love: Thank you all for supporting me so far, and I hope you like the reading~ :bear_love:

@Vama you did well marking this one as sensitive.

if you want this post to reach more people you can add #skyrim hashtag or something that seems apropriate.

also, putting ALT description on a photo helps people who can't see well, but also people who are currently using a Mastodon client that doesn't show pictures or something. it is not a rule of this server, but a general Fediverse etiquette to put a description on a photo

holy shit is #TES lore A Lot. I just got a physical book (one of three volumes) of all of the books in #Skyrim and omg. it’s definitely confusing on purpose, but with just enough similarities and connections with other confusing-on-purpose books to be genuinely maddening. every god has like 5 names and 12 different interpretations, there are whole mystical worldviews that all seem to be correct yet contradict each other, the names and cultures of the races change depending on what era it is, and any of the various creation myths probably require psychedelics to be fully understood. and yet somehow it always feels like there’s a deeper context and some way to unify all of the contradictions, if I could just understand a little deeper

I think I need to learn how to just, be okay with not understanding something like an offhand reference to a name/culture/place/etc. that I’m not familiar with. and keep reading anyway. because otherwise I’m just going to the UESP every 5 seconds and ending up with more questions than answers lol

I have to say though, the fact that everything is so contradictory and confusing and nuanced makes it feel like by far the deepest fantasy lore I’ve ever read

Come listen to another gentle reading in the succubard's libary~ :eevee_joy:

[The Oblivion Crisis]
youtube.com/watch?v=s3uRKofYNz

Today, we're reading about the Oblivion Crisis, which were the events that took place during The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This is a perfect book to read after yesterday's On Oblivion for reasons you'll figure out once you listen to it :bugcat_nod:

This book is available in TESV: Skyrim, which makes sense. It was written between Oblivion and Skyrim, with details that would be known to the Hero of Kvatch, but not to a historian trying to put the events together afterwards without access to them :zerotwo_learn:

Oh, and I also adjusted some things and I'm more expressive than ever :shiba_love:

As always, tell me what you liked, what you didn't like, and maybe even what you want me to read next :hug_love:

:boosts_ok: Bedtime reading is back with a proper recording of On Oblivion from The Elder Scrolls :charmander_yay: This book in particular has existed from as far back as The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, which is a game I almost never hear mentioned outside of people like Josh Strife Hayes :frog_think:

The previous recording I had of this was using the old png model, and was cut from the stream as opposed to a dedicated recording. I'm really happy this recording turned out so much better.

For those who haven't read or listened to it before, it's a wonderful little primer on the world and lore of the Elder Scrolls world and I highly recommend you take a quick listen :eevee_joy:
