Last summer I started on a long held ambition to walk the River Wye/Afon Gwy from Severn to source. After doing 70 miles of the #WyeValleyWalk a combination of train difficulties, worsening weather and finally Covid stopped my progress at Hay on Wye.

Delighted to be back on it today, a short 8 mile section of changeable spring weather and stunningly beautiful scenery between Hay and Boughrood, the Black Mountains an ever present companion.

Teaching about dams & #dam removal this week. Normally I wouldn't say a picture of #water spilling over a dam face should count as a #waterfall, but this very old mill dam at Water-cum-Jolly on the River Wye in #England's Peak District is certainly picturesque & part of the cultural heritage of the area now. But I could clearly see the geomorphic effects (#reservoir #sedimentation & downstream #erosion) that ~200 years of that dam has wrought. #WaterfallWednesday #RiverWye #UK

The River Wye

A national, natural, capitalist, human disaster. Murder on the Wye. A dying river. A dying ecosystem. Dead & dying fish, crustaceans, invertebrates. Pollution from sewage discharge and from industrialised agriculture, especially intensive chicken units

Walkers Are Welcome Towns - Ross-On-Wye

It's a quirky little market town sitting high on an escarpment overlooking great horseshoe bends in the River Wye. Walking in the Ross area has something for everyone, from flat riverside paths to steep climbs, fields and woodland – and amazing panoramic views! It remains a hidden gem to escape the bustle of tourism & walking hotspots. Do come and explore!
