#Trump said he doesn’t know #TrevorMilton but was told that the way Milton was treated by the justice system was “very unfair.”
“And they say the thing that he did wrong was he was one of the first people that supported a gentleman named Donald Trump for president,” Trump said.
Trump also said he acted after receiving some “fantastic recommendations”about Milton.[]

the #TrevorMilton (#Nikola Motor fraudster) pardon is not going over well with the #MAGA crypto bros, many of whom were scammed by... Trevor Milton (which should be unsurprising - these are gullible people who love trading meme stocks, AKA “the primary market for #NKLA shares”).
Tesla bros are also pissed, because Milton's whole scam was basically pretending to be Elon Musk for trucks.
"[Trevor Milton] did nothing wrong and he's a good person." - Donald Trump
"Trevor Milton donated $1.8 million to Trump and his lawyer is #PamBondi's brother." - me

2/ holy fucking shit Trevor Milton's lawyer is none other than Brad Bondi, AKA "Attorney General Pam Bondi's brother"
Milton also donated $1.8 million to some #Trump campaign orgs.
We're seeing levels of naked corruption unmatched in at least 100 years of american history.
The fraudster behind Nikola Motors (the fake electric truck company that made the famous video purporting to be their flagship tractor trailer moving under electric power that turned out to be just an empty truck chassis rolling down a hill) has been pardoned by Donald Trump.

[edit] Trevor Milton just posted a video thanking #DonaldTrump for the pardon and blasting the #SEC and #DOJ: https://x.com/nikolatrevor/status/1905412785661772107

I don't normally post things about the #NBA , but I am thrilled to see two teams on the top of their conferences who have players I have ZERO knowledge about.
Teams led by no one named #Lebron #Luka #Steph #Giannis #Kevin #Devin #Nikola
If Cleveland and OKC aren't careful, you're going to have the one of the #Kardashians come sniffing around soon.
I've been using Nikola - https://getnikola.com/ for my two blogs for the last few years, and I'm finding the mechanics cumbersome.
I thought it was just a matter of acclamating, but it's not. It's been quite a while and quite a number of posts, and it's not getting any easier.
My needs are so minimal, I'm thinking I should maybe look into moving to another static site generator.
Hugo is what all the cool kids are using, but when I look at it I get intimidated by the whole go module based theme thing and ... Uck. I just need something utterly DUMB ASS simple.
Does anyone use something like this that they like? Am I over-inflating Hugo's complexity?
The truth is I was a pretty happy Wordpress user back in the day, but I was an idjit and ran my site poorly so it got knocked over by a script kiddie.
Thinking about transitioning my #blogging from #nikola to #mkdocs
Nikola is great but I've always felt like writing in Markdown is an also ran use case, as its native lingua franca is my long time nemesis #restructuredtext (Hate hate HATE! :) ).
mkdocs is built from the ground up to be super simple. Give it a pile of Markdown and it'll generate a site. There's a nice plugin for generating a blog:
https://github.com/squidfunk/mkdocs-material/blob/master/docs/setup/setting-up-a-blog.md
@quixoticgeek not sure but I'm watching with interest. I use #nikola after a similar rapid mass test years ago. https://getnikola.com/
@SteveDuncan #nikola I have a workflow in mind that simply prepares posts as markdown documents, and defer actually posting them until I'm at my laptop. But in practice I haven't even done that because it's just seems such a needless hassle to even write them on a phone. If was away from a real keyboard for more than 8 hours more often than twice a year then maybe I would care?
For simple edits though, GitHub UI, with an action that does the publish step.
How have people done the “mastodon” site verification thing (rel=me) when using the #nikola #staticsitegenerator?
Both die-welt.net and qifi.org still use bootstrap v3. I wonder what's easier, upgrading to v4 and then v5 or just going all in on v5 directly?
Side quest: die-welt.net is using #nikola which doesn't have a bs5 based base theme yet (https://github.com/getnikola/nikola/issues/3552)
@jimsalter I have actually been having a conversation with myself about Wordpress of late.
I actually do love #Nikola, the static site generator that I use.
And then I find myself thinking "Yes but would I be posting more if I could just be lazy and use the Wordpress post editor web page?"
And then I counter with "OK but HOW GOOD are said posts anyway? If I can't be arsed to spend the 15s it takes me in any given moment of any given average day to get to a keyboard and spin up my editor of choice - Just How Important is what I had planned to say to begin with?
And then I remember that I let my entire hobby domain get owned by a script kiddie a decade or more ago through my ham fistedly installed and not at all secured Wordpress installation :)
I used Hugo to create a static site. Not too complicated - a multi-page tutorial with lots of photos, sidebars, navigation. I found it fairly frustrating trying to do what I thought were fairly basic things; I ended up writing a Python script to pre-process my content file into multiple Hugo pages/templates.
If I was building it from scratch today, I would at least try Nikola before using Hugo again.
So, Hugo IS very slick, but it also feels like its overall ecosystem is suffering from some serious paradigmatic drift.
All the cool kids are using Go modules for their themes, yet if you actually want to deploy your site chances are the thing you'll need to use won't expect that and may DEMAND that you use the old Git submodules way of theming.
I am beginning to tire of this. I had a site up in 5 minutes using #python and #nikola
Once you get Nikola and nikola.el working, this is a very easy way to blog, if you're an Emacs person. It's intuitive and highly configurable. My very-meta blog post on blogging with Emacs org-mode and Nikola static site generator. Pretty much a tutorial.
