BOCVIP · Is working days reducing to 4 days per week a good idea?So we briefly explored this idea in one of my lectures. The main argument was that, in the short run after a reduction in working days, labor supplied will decrease, meaning wages will increase and demand will fall. However, demand for employment increases as productivity increases due to less fatigue, etc. Then (let's call this the long-run supply) would increase due to better working conditions, better work-life balance, and therefore more supply in the workforce, which brings down wages. This, however, could be offset by inflation, as higher wages mean higher prices of goods to compensate for the wage rise,
