Looking at travel options from Edinburgh to Londonshire in October. I’m told that a standard #LNER return is now £230.

Then I see notices on the LNER app that they’re currently experiencing severe delays across the network due to an incident.

I used to love shuttling up and down the UK by train. But pricing and reliability is has now ruled this as a method of travel for me.

Ooops, when I hoped that the Govt's deal with ASLEF over pay would start to end the pain for rail passengers, looks like I spoke (typed) prematurely.... ASLEF drivers on LNER are about to (re) start strike action(s) over successive weekends in a long running (but separate) dispute.

Apologies, I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel, but that just turned out to be another train coming towards LNER passengers (but not one they can board, of course).

My #Eurostar was 1h late and I had an on #train to #Leeds. Actually this was the last "off-peak" one, had I booked the following one I'd have paid more than twice more.

For the first time I've been offered this form: "Hop on the next available train" #hotnat, which allowed me to board the peak-time train.

It's supposed to be only within #RailTeam alliance (inOui #TGV, #OBB #railjet, #ICE, #Lyria, #Thalys) so says form, but it was accepted by #LNER here in the #UK.

@sustainrelease When travelling with 1st Class #Interrail in Britain you could have all your meals in such long-distance trains where meals are complimentary in 1st class;) Especially #LNER has good catering. Sadly no railway company offers such in continental Europe as far as I know. (Except for breakfast in SJ trains, and many operators offer coffee/tea. Sometimes snacks. Not DB, though.)
