This is the story of a Palestinian man used as a human shield by the IOF. His wife had given birth the week before and was ordered to evacuate on foot with her five children. They got reunited eventually. What the IOF did to him and others is truly shocking, but at least he's still alive. For how long though

Israeli forces brutally killed two elderly Palestinians after using them as human shields during an invasion of Gaza City’s southern Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood last May, Euro-Med Monitor field investigations have revealed.

The victims of the crime were identified by the Euro-Med Monitor field and legal teams as married couple Mohammed Fahmi Abu Hussein (70) and Mazyona Hassan Fares Abu Hussein (65).

An investigation by the Israeli website “HaMakom” has revealed that an Israeli officer from the Nahal Brigade tied a chain of explosives around the neck of a 70-year-old Palestinian man and made him go inside houses in the Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood to inspect them and make sure they were safe for eight hours. According to the website, he and his wife were shot by Israeli army forces after they finished the mission.

An Israeli commander in #Rafah killed a Palestinian man who was being used by the military as a human shield, after mistaking him for a threat. IDF stated the incident will be investigated, but more importantly, it’s an acknowledgment of the illegal practice of using Palestinian civilians to inspect buildings and tunnels, a practice that has been condemned by human rights organizations and ruled illegal by Israel's own High Court of Justice in 2005.

After Israeli soldiers found Mohammed Shubeir hiding w/his family in early March, they detained him for roughly 10 days before releasing him w/o charge, he said.

During that time, Shubeir said, the soldiers used him as a #HumanShield.

Shubeir, then 17, said he was forced to walk handcuffed through the empty ruins of his hometown, Khan Younis, in southern #Gaza, searching for #explosives set by #Hamas. To avoid being blown up themselves, the soldiers made him go ahead.
