one of my favourite stories from this book that I learnt only now:

there was a lawsuit filed by Cisco against Huawei in 2000s for stealing intellectual property - and part of the evidence was that Huawei copied Cisco's router software... including even the same bugs - which Huawei didn't bother to fix 🙃

half-way through this book via reading in bookshop (thank you for this Waterstones) and so far it's really eye-opening & fascinating story

but also a dark and ruthless one where company achieves what it wants, whatever the cost – including human one

Huawei has fired two employees and suspended a third for their alleged involvement in a bribery investigation surrounding the Chinese technology giant and the European Parliament, POLITICO has learned.

It is unclear whether the three employees are the same as the Huawei officials who were preliminary charged.

Huawei corruption probe: eight charged.

The Belgian prosecutor has charged eight people with active corruption, money laundering and criminal organisation in an investigation into Huawei’s suspected illegal payments to secure support from European lawmakers in the company’s interests.

Three suspects are now under electronic surveillance, two were released under conditions and three remain in prison.
