Fediverse appears to be replicating the worst elements of #socialMedia now, including enabling and empowering the #botFarms.

It seems to be just replicating the worst elements of the #closedSilo systems, just in a #decentralised way.

We suspect that the way to get to the heart of this issue is to '#followTheMoney'. Where is money pouring into fedi and why? Why has Mastodon not taken long-time software thieves #HellaDoge to task, but jumped on others?

@hk
May we ask what media/users say this?

Mastodon has very real problems in incentivising botFarms, with the "Explore" Tab, and for manipulating users by showing Like and Boost Counts. Mastodon is not doing enough to stop the corporate reach in our view.

Also it has done nothing over the course of years now to enforce the AGPL licence against apparent software theft by #HellaDoge.com.

Be under no illusions, Mastodon is able to be and is being commodified by likely very bad actors.

Dunno.

> Appears on the scene to take control of fedi at some might say a very sensitive and opportune time,
> Gets a disproportionate amount of funds to develop fedi software,
> continues to not enforce #AGPLv3Compliance against #HellaDoge.com,
> Magically comes to support #antiFeatures like forced #javascript, Explore Tab, showing interaction counts, etc
> #JoinMastodon.com is CloudFlare,
> But says 'no' to #ventureCapital out of #SiliconValley.

Hmm.

If we don't credit the author it's (sort of) #plagerism.

We came from Falsebook and we adjusted quickly to the culture of Fediverse not using #quoteReplies.

We quickly appreciated that although we may've been able to grow on Falsebook from it that it does also breed #oneUpmanship and #toxicity.

We doubt #MastodonDevs care what we say. They are still not enforcing #AGPLv3 against #HellaDoge, despite our calls.

@kino i agree with this, and it absolutely is a cycle, even in the micro and macro scale of its application. this is a reflection upon life itself, and it doesn't change for anyone. it will always present itself in new ways at any point in a persons life. writing about this in comic sans is super awesome btw. shoutout #helladoge for keeping me positive 😁

Sebastian has a good point here, @fsf, please use inclusive language, like Fediverse.

On the topic of #Mastodon however we would like someone to address the fact that Mastodon folk appear to be actively ignoring repeated calls for "#memecoin" operation (#helladoge.com) to be served a compliance notice for their #softwareTheft of the AGPLv3 code.

That site is a bad violator of the licence and should be taken down immediately or made to comply.

@Gargron's inaction is deafening.

@jeffcliff
For those who proclaim to be against #cryptocurrency, one would think they wouldn't blink twice to support this motion to have #HellaDoge taken down.

Violating the AGPLv3 #FOSS license is bad enough of course. The community became ablaze when Trump did it.

What can we learn by these same people #turningABlindEye to a memeCoin orientated instance?

Drama and hilarity in the #fediverse this week as #HellaDoge accidentally enables federation, allowing users outside their little walled garden to follow those inside and vice-versa.

I had assumed they'd done it on purpose but its seems they're treating it as a bug: Accidental breech of the walls in their walled garden, exposing the lie that they are or want to be in any way decentralised.

Maybe also exposing that they are illegally stealing source-code from the open-source community and then not releasing their change patches? Can't tell if their changes are public anywhere.

It's all so ugly I doubt anyone would want the changes but if they are based on #Mastodon as it looks, then they are legally obliged to supply them to any user that asks I believe.
