Saw an interesting new product recently: CellAED
A personal #defibrillator, at a reasonable price.
Their FAQ says:
"Will I need to connect my CellAED to a network?
If cellular coverage is available, your CellAED will automatically connect to the network for regular device status updates...."
Their customer support confirms:
"Please be advised that you cannot disconnect or switch off the device's connectivity feature"
That's a hard NO! from us then.
@blackflagmedical funny thing, here in my country at least mobile operators are the first to say they should not be relied on in case of an emergency
@lffontenelle As I understand it the mobile connection is not needed for device operation, but rather for sending data back to the manufacturer. E.g. "Regular status updates", whatever that means.
I just don't see why this device needs to regularly report its status back to the manufacturer. In my view, it provides no benefit for the customer, rather just for the manufacturer's benefit of up-selling/marketing.
