I’m curious so please vote in my poll

I listen to these streaming services

@mattl thrilled with the roadmap - thanks for all your hard work!

@djsundog Excited to be able to support IndieAuth soon

@mattl Thank you! I had to request a new password, but now I'm in, and looking forward to hacking together a scrobbler.

@mattl I regret to share that the Spotify algorithm has a chokehold on me

@mattl it's complicated. I use the Pythos app on Linux ... which means I get the paid experience for free.

@mattl I do also occasionally use YouTube music which I do pay for YT Premium

@mattl I like Deezer, YouTube Music (the latter, as I pay for YouTube to remove the ads, comes ad-less too), and Bandcamp.

And vinyl LPs, since I currently have no CD device working. 🥺

@ddlyh how do you listen to that? It’s like a radio station or can you pick which songs you want to hear?

@mattl @ddlyh You can scrobble to libre.fm already through Web Scrobbler. I built the connector awhile back

@jbwharris @ddlyh it’s only going to scrobble the station though? Not per song?

@mattl @ddlyh It does per song. I was just listening after I posted this to RFF Main

@mattl @ddlyh You can indeed influence which songs you hear, by means of recording and submitting some! 😀 Yes, it's an internet radio station with a few themed channels...

@mattl YouTube Music, and that's basically mostly to do exploratory listening to bands I'm not familiar with who are playing at festivals I'm going to

@mattl YouTube music. Hard to beat the perk of removing all YouTube ads

@mattl YouTube Music, Pandora, wwoz.org, Worldwide Radio (Firefox extension)

@mattl Qobuz...the antithetical Spotify

@mattl YT Music, mostly because I want ad-free YouTube.

@jgarber how does that work as a steaming service?

@mattl How do you mean?

Edit: I'm a dummy. My original reply was on a completely unrelated topic.

@jgarber if you’re scrobbling a radio station how does it scrobble songs? I assume it doesn’t.

@mattl Oh, shoot, I'm sorry. My initial reply to you was completely unrelated to what you were asking about.

@mattl YouTube Music via InnerTune.
also AccuRadio, YouRadio, several other FM or online-only radio streams (e.g. radio-browser.info), most are able to display track info.

@mattl I use YouTube Music. Helps me explore what is out there out find a recommendation from someone so I can purchase later.

@mattl I stream music from bandcamp before buying. I intermittently stream from Qobuz and Spotify. All of these I track using Pano Scrobbler (which I also use for my local music files).

I sometimes scrobble from podcasts, mixcloud and radio using either Pano Scrobbler's or Finale's scrobble from mic/music recognition.

I also use Finale's album scrobbling for manually tracking physical listening (vinyl/CD).

@mattl I jump around: Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, YouTube.

@mattl Probably not going to work for your scenario, but I listen to a lot of SiriusXM. Mostly live-streams of what they send out over the satellites, sometimes their “extras” stations, which I think is three Pandoras standing on each others shoulders under a trenchcoat.

@mattl A bunch of smaller radio-style streaming services. homegrownradionj.org , radiofreefedi, soma.fm, anonradio.net slayradio.org when I'm in the mood.

@mattl Accuradio. And then sometimes just a single song on youtube, so I guess that too if streaming doesn't have to be more than one song at a time.

Oh and I guess also last.fm. Which is still youtube.

@mattl I stream some music from YouTube and Bandcamp, but that's usually a prelude to making that music part of the local collection.

There's also gensokyoradio.net/playing/

gensokyoradio.net Now Playing | Gensokyo Radio

@mattl I'm a bit late for the poll, but I mostly listen to

#RadioFreeFedi (icecast2 stream)
#Faircamp ¹
#Mirlo ¹
#JamCoop ¹
#Bandcamp ¹
#Youtube (usually streamed through invidious instance)

¹ mostly playing downloaded tracks locally, but stream new releases to check them out

@mattl I mainly stream by listening to #radiofreefedi or a couple of internet ambient music stations. Scrobbling by typing the artist and track name into a plain text file whenever a new track that I like comes on. Also podcasts if they count.

@mattl streaming, but moving back to physical media bit by bit

@mattl @allie I’d pick both options - I own copies (where available basically) of almost everything I listen to, but more of my listening is via streaming due to a combination of technical issues (eg, when not at home) and figuring that even if it’s peanuts streaming listens help the artists a little, plus help both me and then get better algorithmic stuff.

@mattl I'm my own streaming service. I use Symfonium to connect to Nextcloud Music on my home server.

100% local, I use a dedicated 3TB hard drive for that (it’s very far from being full, it was a 500GB hard drive not so long ago).

The music is stored locally on my home server, then streamed from this server to whatever computer I am using at the time to listen to music.

@mattl Spotify, but I'm really impressed with Plex music player - I still have quite the collection of mp3s from back in the day and some new ones from bandcamp. My home ISP has enough upload to make it as seamless as using Spotify or YouTube music.

@mattl I mainly listen to twitch.tv/ (Music category), on the phone, connected through bluetooth to the soundbar. Then I lock the phone and use the pc or tablet with a nice background music.

TwitchTwitchTwitch is an interactive livestreaming service for content spanning gaming, entertainment, sports, music, and more. There’s something for everyone on Twitch.

@mattl I am absolutely pumped to see the direction you're going with this. I've been having lots of fun with the lastfm api lately, so I look forward to seeing what monkey business I can figure out with this.

@mattl mpdscribble doesn't work:
handshake failed, username or password incorrect (BADAUTH)

I even wrote my cleartext password in the config! :blobcatsad:

@jak2k are you able to log into the website?

@jak2k Can you send your config minus your password to mattl@hey.com?
