Inspired by some other posts on here, I got out to my local aurora viewing spot and was able to capture a few photos - 39 in fact. I'm up in NH so it was worth getting out and at least checking with my phone's camera.
When I got there, a few other people were there and I kept an eye on a couple areas of the sky to see what I could see with the naked eye. Off to the north-west, I saw some vertical streaks and my camera could only see a little bit of color. I could only see a tiny bit of motion. I decided to wait and see what might happen.
Then 10-15 minutes later, the other people left and nobody else was around for 5-10 minutes. The sky started getting a lot more active - they missed it, but I did not.
I could see some red and green streaks on my camera and the sky was coming to life with color. Many of the picture I took with my camera were 0.5-1 second long-exposures according to the metadata.
Interestingly enough, the viewfinder on my phone did not do it justice when I was taking them and they look better now. I'm looking at them in Photos and some of these came out very good! Sometime this weekend I might go through the rest of them and post some more. But for now, here's 3 of my favorites.
