The other day I found a bee with its wings wet, so it couldn't fly. I offered it some water with sugar and made an umbrella with a pot so it could dry in peace. Seeing it fly away eventually was very nice

@The_Caretaker @ai6yr @teleclimber If I'm remembering correctly, a well-maintained cover doesn't have much room - there's a kind of hoop/ loop inside that you hook with the tool, and it blocks a fair amount (but not enough to keep out bees, maybe) of the opening. What makes this design so difficult is that it's on the ground, so it has to be flat; the material has to be sturdy enough to stand up to foot and wheeled traffic, but light enough to break with a crowbar if needed; and it has to be simple enough to open for utility workers to learn it and for civilians to be able to figure it out. This seems like a really worthy design project. Anyone know a high school science or civics teacher? #scienceProject #civicsProject #utilityCover #saveTheBees
Beautiful tree in my mum's garden, if you put sound on you can hear all the bees buzzing about, pollinating #garden #blossom #photography #savethebees
@thebeeguy I've rescued quite a few bee friends. But thank you for all the information!

Great news for our pollinators! The UK government has announced plans to reduce pesticide use on arable farms by 10% by 2030 to protect bees and other pollinators. This initiative includes promoting integrated pest management and introducing a pesticide load indicator to monitor progress. While campaigners welcome this move, they urge for similar actions in urban areas and parks.

Supermarkets Ranked on Pesticides
Pesticides Action Network (PAN) has ranked the UK’s ten biggest supermarkets on their efforts to protect consumers, farmworkers, and wildlife from pesticides.
While some supermarkets are doing much better than others, all ten could be doing more to tackle pesticide harms.
This is particularly true when it comes to protecting bees and other pollinators from pesticides since all of the UK’s ten largest supermarkets continue to use neonicotinoids and other highly bee-toxic pesticides in their global supply chains.
PAN classified the supermarkets into four categories:
