For #MeerMittwoch here's the pebbled seafront at Selsey, a seaside town along the coast in West Sussex to the south of Chichester, and possibly most well-known in the UK as being the home of astronomer Sir Patrick Moore up until his death. In fact, on the day that this photo was taken in 2011 we tried to find his house just to see if we could see the observatory in his garden. As you do.

We're on a mostly pebbled beach looking out to a flat sea on a day that's mostly overcast but in which the sun has just peeked out from behind some clouds out of view to lighten up the scene. To the left as we look out across the water there are some large rocks jutting out beyond the tideline into the sea; they're longer and wider than they are high, perhaps only reaching to the knee or thigh of an adult, and flat enough on the top that they could be walked upon with care out over the water. Some seaweed or moss deposits lightly cover the glistening, wet tops of the rocks currently reflecting some of the sunlight from above. The smallest of waves is breaking along the front edge of the water, rustling along the rounded pebbles at our feet. It's a relaxing scene but it doesn't feel particularly warm.
