"The hardware to be used was a Prime 300 connected to an FR 80 from III which can plot directly onto cine-film. Running on this system at the SRC laboratories in Oxfordshire was the software animation package, Frolic, developed by C.Emmett.
My program was written in Fortran with calls to Frolic subroutines."
The whole project was 14 pages of #Fortran code.

Ever since I heard Neill Blomkamp is gonna make new Alien movie I felt all the juices flowing ;] I had this idea rattling in my head that I just had to draw - what if military actually succeed in controlling Aliens... or so they thought.

The marketing campaign for Alien: Romulus is pretty great.
I just watched "Alien: Romulus" today.
It's a great mix of using the things that work in the franchise, and omits the things that don't.

On this day 32 years ago in 1992, "Alien3" premiered.
David Fincher lets you know how nightmarish Alien3 will be in the first five minutes. These single frames from are some of the darkest in the franchise.
Two of three heroes are killed in unceremonious ways. Bishop survives, mostly.
The Directors Cut replaces these with a grim readout display.

For those not in the know, Alien Day falls on April 26th (4/26). It refers to the name of the planet LV 426.
I'm treating myself to a live showing tonight.
Both Aliens and Total Recall use flat screens depicting idealistic scenes of nature. These scenes were futuristic for their time.
It's worth noting that something which seemed so futuristic back then have now become commonplace.

In honour of Alien (1979) turning 44 years old, I'll be posting a some clips or random trivia over the next few days.
There are large parts of Alien that have a fantastic atmosphere, almost a chill vibe, if you can overlook a giant Alien running around.
One of those scenes is when Dallas has to go through a specific access procedure to use MU/TH/UR, held in a secure room.
