"Unlike our opponents, we don’t believe that love and care is finite.

We don’t believe that trans people are only allowed to exist when they poll well. We don’t believe that there’s a binary choice between supporting broke American citizens and immigrants. We don’t believe that feminism is an attack on men, or that anti-racism is an attack on white people. We don’t believe that justice and peace for Palestine is mutually exclusive with protecting Jewish communities from antisemitism. We don’t believe in either implicit or explicit eugenics for our disabled neighbors. We don’t believe that only some of us deserve healthcare or childcare or a decent education or healthy air or communities free from violence. We merely believe that we all deserve a country that loves us for once. We believe that there is enough to go around, but only if we choose it."

The White Pages · There are two political movements in America right nowBy Garrett Bucks

You may know people whose kids or nephews or nieces or other relatives are trans. And you might have seen how they accept and love their kids and relatives. Why would that be 'unpopular'? '
No, these are the true family values. This is the true basis
of popularity, not what some
political poll says.

This. There are reasons why #Newsom has never got traction as a presidential candidate, in spite of corporate backing. First his views on trans people are evil, second he’s a former power company exec, third he’s a Third Way pol, and fourth he has the personal magnetism of a sea slug (and that’s unfair to sea slugs)

"But the ultimate takeaway—that #Newsom doesn’t really believe in anything other than his own political destiny, and will do anything to reach his ultimate goal—is truer now than ever. That’s why he’s now throwing #trans teenagers to wolves like Kirk."

Media Matters for AmericaCharlie Kirk and TPUSA are fueled by far-right extremismRight-wing radio host and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has spent years attempting to establish himself and his organization as pillars of the conservative movement while maintaining extensive ties to far-right extremists, including election deniers, white nationalists, and antisemitic conspiracy theorists.  Kirk now appears to be engaged in a broader right-wing media revolt against Fox News, which remains the dominant media property among conservatives even after the network has faced a string of recent setbacks. Fox News didn’t air any of last weekend’s Turning Point Action Conference, or ActCon, unlike in previous years when the network has extensively covered TPUSA’s events. Fox Nation, the network’s fledgling streaming platform, posted only two ActCon speeches — those of former President Donald Trump and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, both Republican presidential candidates. Earlier TPUSA conferences frequently boasted Fox’s on-air talent as headliners, but ActCon’s 2023 speaker list was notably absent of any of the network’s stars.  This fracturing comes as Kirk and Turning Point Action, an affiliate of TPUSA, are set to spend as much as $108 million on early voting initiatives that the group referred to in promotional materials as a “BALLOT CHASING OPERATION,” according to The Washington Post. “The group is raising money to hire 500 full-time organizers in Arizona, 800 in Georgia and 350 in Wisconsin, at a cost of $99 million to compensate each staffer at a $60,000 salary, according to the fundraising materials,” the Post reports. TPUSA under Kirk’s leadership has a long history of employing racists, and there’s no reason to believe that dynamic will change with this new hiring surge. In 2017, The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer revealed that TPUSA National Field Director Crystal Clanton sent a text message to a colleague that read: “I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like fuck them all . . . I hate blacks. End of story.” Kirk had previously praised Clanton, but apparently fired her after the incident, replacing her with Shialee Grooman and Troy Meeker. As HuffPost reported shortly after the announcement, Grooman had posted numerous anti-LGBTQ and anti-Black tweets, and Meeker had posted at least one as well. Just last year, leaked texts from the TPUSA Towson University chapter showed members minimizing slavery and embracing an anti-LGBTQ slur. Researcher Ben Lorber has documented the many points of overlap between TPUSA and Nick Fuentes’ white nationalist “groyper” movement, despite the two groups’ history of conflict with one another. Kirk not only associates with extremists, but he frequently espouses far-right views himself. He regularly and inaccurately claims the 2020 election was stolen, as well as some races in the 2022 midterms, including Kari Lake’s failed gubernatorial run in Arizona. He also uses unambiguously racist, anti-LGBTQ, and sexist rhetoric on The Charlie Kirk Show, a product of Salem Media Group, and at his conferences. This bigotry unsurprisingly carries over to TPUSA, which has become increasingly oriented toward Christian nationalism. Kirk and TPUSA epitomize the larger trajectory of the conservative activist base, which has become increasingly radicalized over the last decade — from the Tea Party movement to the Trump campaign and administration, to the rise of QAnon, and now to Trump’s second presidential run. In that spirit, here are some of the extreme figures and organizations Kirk has surrounded himself with. (This post has been updated with additional examples. More will be added as they arise.)

Arschlochisierung: "Gaving #Newsom, Dem. Gouverneur von Kalifornien mit präsidentiellen Ambitionen, hat gesagt, es sei 'zutiefst unfair', wenn #trans Frauen in Frauensportarten spielen."

The Guardian · Newsom condemned for ‘throwing trans people under bus’ after sports commentBy Lauren Gambino

It's very important to note, though, that those are not the words he said. I think it's also important to note what else he actually did say, that the media is not covering.

That he takes issue with how people are talking down on vulnerable, marginalized communities.

That he denounces the current Democratic party strategy of laying low and performing a "strategic retreat" and just waiting for Trump to push voters their way as a losing one.

That he believes there ought to be space in the Democratic Party for imperfect allies who might not pass every single ideological purity test, but maybe enough to protect some critical policies as opposed to losing every battle.

Actions speak so much louder than words. But even if one were to interpret Newsom’s words on his podcast today in the worst possible light-- that he harbors outright hatred for this inseparable, cherished part of the LGBT community?

Then, all the more credit to him for setting aside such vile, reprehensible views to prioritize the will of his constituents. For governing not by personal bias, but by the duty to lead with their interests in mind.

That is what politicians ought to do.

Gavin Newsom’s MAGA Drift Is Here

—praised the effectiveness of a 2024 Trump campaign ad that had claimed, “Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.”

—debuted a new podcast that featured Charlie Kirk as his inaugural guest…with Newsom criticizing #BLM and #cancelculture, as well as…coziness with Kirk, who, as the founder of Turning Point USA, is one of the most prominent #MAGA boys.

#Newsom's presidential ambitions are more craven than ever.

Mother JonesGavin Newsom's MAGA drift is hereIn suggesting that Democrats were wrong about trans athletes and cozying up to MAGA favorites, Newsom's presidential ambitions are more craven than ever.

Democratic California governor Gavin (secretly a fascist) #Newsom started a podcast and on his first episode platformed far-right, anti-LGBTQ+ influencer Charlie Kirk.

At one point, Newsom stated he was "completely aligned" with Kirk on #transgender participation in sports. He also appeared to express agreement with restrictions on medical care for incarcerated transgender people and limits on gender-affirming healthcare for transgender #youth.

Fuck him, and fuck any democrats who platform the alt right.
