Showers will develop late this afternoon and expand across the region this evening. Soaking rainfall is most likely south of I-80 where total amounts over 1 inch (locally to near 2 inches) on saturated soils may lead to river rises and flooding of fields, creeks, and ditches. A fast-moving system may bring gusty rain and snow showers to the region Monday.

Near seasonable temperatures are forecast today with increasing clouds and perhaps a stray shower well south of I-80. Showers are then expected to expand in coverage areawide late Friday into Saturday. Heavy rain may lead to localized flooding near/south of I-80.

I must chuckle. I am in northern Illinois but our isp/cable is based in a dinky Wisconsin town just morth of the IL state line. We get program warning interupptions for Wisconsin from as far north as about Madison, west from the Monroe area then east to Lake Michigan. That little dotted line on the map keeps bad weather out of Illinois.
