looking up the Grupps in the 1910 census when Louis was only 20, you can see not only the whole musician family but two other musician families living in the same tenement (the Reichels and the Dorfmans)🕵️‍♂️ "Mollie Grupp" is the Mekhli Goyzman mentioned in the essay above.

I have been walking by this scene on my way to work for the last three weeks or so. Long lines of asylum seekers seeking aid, at least a thousand people wrapped around the block and spilling into Tompkins Square Park every day. Apparently the old St. Brigid school has been open as a respite center for a while, but something changed in the last month that kicked the scene into overdrive.
