The Trolley of Tasty Treats

You're on a trolley, heading towards a fork in the track. On one path, there's a giant vat of the world's most delicious ice cream, enough to make everyone happy and give them brain freeze. On the other path, there's a huge pile of stinky, rotten durians that will make everyone nauseous and possibly cause mutant powers to manifest.

You have the power to pull a lever and choose which path the trolley takes. Do you:

A) Pull the lever towards the ice cream, knowing everyone will be overjoyed and likely become overweight?

B) Let the trolley continue on its current path towards the durians, accepting that everyone will be miserable but potentially gain super stinky powers?

What will it be, ice cream bliss or durian superpowers? The fate of the trolley's passengers hangs in the balance.

Went to Costco today and saw that they had some packaged pressed durian in the snack section. Picked one up and just tried it.

It has the texture of a really soft licorice rope, it's dark brown in color and tastes like cooked, smashed durian. The thing really loves to stick to teeth though.

Score: 6/10 :durian:

A couple three decades ago, I got a durian shake at a chinese restaurant and shared it with my friend. They brought it out in a styrofoam cup with a lid and straw, to limit the spread of the smell.

We'd take turns taking slurps, trying to be open-minded really give it an enthusiastic try, smiling optimistically, then grimacing involuntarily.

To me, the smell was like rotting onions and ripe diapers.

Hours later, each time I burped I would almost burst into tears.

I didn't even know this place exists in #Malaysia! A homestay where you can eat to your heart's content up in the mountains and be surrounded by cats too 😁
Can always trust this YouTuber to film the most interesting vlogs.

PS: While the YouTuber is from China, the others are Malaysian and one Singaporean Chinese. The wife commented that her husband is a 🍌 person because he can only speak Cantonese. 🤭

#durian kills a surprisingly high number of people

this is an article from 2013, somebody just taking a brief media survey and finding 8 deaths

people are scared of sharks

they need to be scared of murderous fruit

also in the article: death by consuming durian. it's high in potassium. if you have a heart condition, probably like the middle aged men mentioned who died, or kidney issues, you should not overconsume durian

Year of the Durian · Death By Fruit | When Durian Really Does Kill People - Year of the DurianDurian has a bad reputation – and not only for it’s smell. At first we believed rumors of people dying from durian to be a myth, but sadly, yes, our beloved fruit is a bit of a murderer. While Rob and I romped around Asia sampling durian, the media reported on six individuals who met […]
