Interesting talk from the recent #DuckDB #DuckCon: "Data is Rectangular and Other Common Misconceptions".
Makes an analogy between assembly language and #SQL as difficult to use low-level interfaces, with assembly finally being displaced by C which was both easier to use and provided *complete* functional coverage.
Will there ever be a similar displacement of SQL? People have tried and failed for like 50 years.
My takeaway from #duckcon: everybody's building shims on top and below SQL.
