When I first glanced at this I thought it was a woodpigeon, but then I looked a little closer. This is a first for the garden and it is a Stock Dove. It has a green patch on its neck (no white band like a woodpigeon and is a little smaller too) and a distinct black eye. I only managed to get this one shot of it before it flew.

This little one is a female Blackcap. The male has a distinct black cap but the female’s is brown. Yet to see a male here but will keep you updated!

It feels like it’s been months since the sun shone on my day off. The difference in the way the colour of feathers appear is just so brilliant. This Blue Tit had perfect feathers and is making a claim on it’s territory.

It’s been pretty cold recently and the frosts have brought a few different members of the thrush family to the garden. This male blackbird was one of 18 that came for the sultanas in the feeder that they go crazy for.
