Periodic reminder that #sewing a 18th century style shirt completely by hand:
* doesn't require any expensive equipment;
* doesn't require any particular space;
* can be done with cheap materials;
* is easy enough that a (18th century) child can do it;
* probably takes less time than you think.
@valhalla Is there a pattern or instructions you like?
Also what if I am a terrible hand sewer? :-)
@jonobie I've followed Bernadette Banner's pirate shirt video (or rather, the notes I took from her video, pausing and resuming and fast forwarding as needed while cursing video as a tutorial format :D ), except for the fact that I added two small triangular gussets at the neck taken from some blog post (I don't remember where).
And if you are a terrible hand sewer, you are definitely not going to finish it in one day :D and you're pretty likely to be a less terrible sewer when the shirt is done :D
