Photo scanned from a #Kodachrome slide taken during an early 90’s road-trip through #England. This is the Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick in the Lake District. Definitely the most beautifully situated of all the ancient stone circles we saw on that trip.

@Trilobyter so intrigued by how this landed on my feed via @pvonhellermannn, its truly a small world. My parents live a stones throw from here, we were there a few months ago taking almost identical Not quite the same level of sophistication on the developing front I'm afraid. But hi, and welcome to texas folks!

@EmmaBirkett @pvonhellermannn thanks Emma! It has been 30 years since I was there but it made a lasting impression - an incredible place. You’re lucky to have such a connection to it. I’m going through old slides from that trip - friend & I wandered through England from Devon all the way up to Cumbria & Durham seeking out circles & sites & other ancient places along the way. If you look at my feed from the last week I’ve posted a few photos from it - including one of me in the Swinside circle.

@Trilobyter It is still a favourite for many, and gets a stream of visitors most days. Sounds like a wonderful trip. Imagine those less populous days where you might arrange to meet your fellow human there. It's so stunning how it's like a natural amphitheatre amongst the hills.
